Alhamdulillah! (Arabic for Praise to God!)
After more than a year, I've finally secured my first work experience at a law firm in the UK, although truth be told, it was via a family contact. But who cares? In this instance the end justifies the means, even if I would've much preferred an attachment as a result of my own efforts via an application or speculative cover letter.
The fact is the job situation in the UK is not very promising, especially in the legal sector. And worse still for an aspirant in the legal sector without the academics to warrant even a look-in at some London high street firms. But all that's in the past now. Hopefully the remaining obstacle of some paperwork will not stand in my way of spending at least a week, if not two, at an international law firm that is among the world's fifty largest (as measured by revenues). This is just the beginning.
