My best mates (except for the intruder on the right) and I celebrating my birthday on a night out in
The Toon last weekend.
I'm sorry for not writing much the past month and a bit. I'd love to say I've been too busy but as you know, I was in Oman earlier and long-time readers will know how rare it is for me post on LJ when I'm over there. Then within a few days of returning to Dear Old Blighty, my sister joined me for a few days in London. It was meant to be a surprise visit to celebrate my birthday because I wasn't originally scheduled to visit Oman over the New Year period. And because my sister's visit was meant to be a surprise, I organised a trip up to Newcastle last weekend with a group of my closest friends in London, to mark my 28th. Lucky me, eh?
So I can hardly complain about life at the moment. But the holiday has ended and it's back to business: finding a job, sorting out my finances, losing weight and finding a wife. I haven't had much luck in any of those departments, although I was supposed to have a temp job lined up all this week, but it's ended barely a day into it. My bank balance is in a much better state than it was a couple months ago, while I even managed to lose some weight in Oman through a reasonably healthy diet and daily exercise in the form of badminton sessions and cardio training at my nearest gym. The challenge for this year's
Battle of the Bulge is to lose at least 12 kilos by the start of the
Olympics (27 July). And as for finding a wife, I received much advice and lecturing about it from friends and family while in Oman. I'm no closer to finding my better half, but I've probably returned to London better equipped to pursue such matters. I'm no closer to deciding whether I want to marry an Indian girl introduced to me through family/family-friends, or a girl of my choice (including someone who isn't Indian). Either way, it's been made pretty clear to me that I probably need to find someone before the year's out, even if the ceremony isn't for at least a year or two. If anybody knows where I can find my dream woman (think
Marisa Tomei in
My Cousin Vinny), be sure to get in touch! ;) I hope all of you are well!
