The last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. I'm not even all that busy with school at the moment, though that's going to change pretty soon. I think our faculty have been intentionally taking it easy on us in terms of homework, etc., because three quarters of the grads are in Rhinoceros, which is a mentally and physically demanding show. Except I'm not in that show, so my workload has been pretty light. (Relatively speaking. It's still grad school, heh.)
But Rhinoceros closes this weekend, just in time for Spring Awakening to start rehearsal. OMG CAN'T WAIT. On the other hand, I can already tell that our assignment load is starting to pick up, plus we're doing an entire play in my Shakespeare class, so essentially I'm going to be working on two plays at once, plus homework. Actually, make that three plays, because I'm also (voluntarily) involved in a devised theatre project that will actually perform in New York in early January. So I'm going to have a New York credit on my resume!
So that's exciting. But HOMG, I'm going to be buried for the next few months. :|
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Last weekend I got to go to NYC for a few days to coincide with my parents and sister's visit to look at colleges for her. Sunday was the only day we didn't have school tours and appointments, so we got to be tourists for a bit. My sister decided that instead of seeing a show, she wanted to go to the Met museum. She's studying art history in school right now, so it was relevant to her interests. She was so cute in the Greek wing, because she actually knows the artistic differences between the various Greek periods, and she was geeking out about it. D'aww. Then we visited Columbia and Barnard on Monday, which made me insanely jealous and want to go back to college and study everything ever. Heh.
The trip was a balm, because I had to put my cat to sleep a few days previous. She's been with me for eleven years, which is the longest I've ever had a pet, plus she's been the one constant in my life as I've moved around the country and been without family, etc. She died with my arms around her, though, which is the best way I can think of for both of us.
RIP, Mugsy.
