I had my first appointment with the midwife at my house on the 5th of March.
She was half an hour late...without calling me. I had to call the midwife's office three times to get someone to answer to find out if she was actually coming or not.
She came in and went straight to the couch and started filling out papers. Then took some blood...on my couch. As soon as the tourniquet goes on, I am done--I don't look. So I did not know that not only did she not wash her hands before taking blood...she didn't wear gloves either! (My mom was in the other room and told me after the midwife left). And then I had to pee in a very tiny vial...and she handled that with her bare hands. Who knows what went on at the appointment before mine! Did she wash her hands there???
I have an actual prenatal appointment at our local surgery at the end of April. Sometime I should get a letter for my first ultrasound between 12 and 14 weeks.
I am so not confident about the way they do things over here! The only comforting thing is that this particular midwife is moving to another village so I'll have one of two other ones assigned to me.
This is ALL the medical care I've had since Doc confirmed my pregnancy at the base clinic and I started taking prenatals. I'm so glad I haven't had any issues.
Thank the Lord we are moving back to the states this summer and the baby isn't due til October!
Which...we got orders! Bill got instructor duty at NCTC so back to Gulfport we go!
Mom and Dad left today. :( We had a great visit but it ended too soon! Today I am doing housework and then hopefully getting started on prepping the projects for card class at the library Thursday!
