Off in 名古屋(nagoya) for one day. Nothing interesting to report on this day, really. Hung out, did very little.
edited to add
I forgot: we went to the トヨタ (toyota) manufacturing plant, where they make all the cars. Then we got to sit in all the latest models. I want a convertible. Badly. I miss my car.

Today was 仙台(sendai). Geeked it up a bit. I finally caved in and got a copy of いただきストリートスペシャル. And...
...I got it. The big one...FIRE EMBLEM 6! ファイヤーエムブレム 封印の剣! The one with Roy!
JACKPOT!!!
(insert theme to the greatest gameshow ever, Jackpot!, here)
I found it at a used store of all places. I perchaned browsed the used video game section, stumbled onto the GBA games, and BAM! They had a copy. ¥3500 later, it was mine! ALL MINE!!!
Er, anyway. Onto 平泉(hiraizumi)

I think our group has to suggest to Kanatsu and Welch not to use "crazy old guy" tours anymore. The first two places we visited (golden buddhist temple thingy and another shinto shrine) were fine. But then the bus dumped us out, and we had two walk to our next two stops. "20 minutes" the guy says. Two hours later, we visit two very nice grassy fields, and a museum dedicated to the grassy fields.
Stayed at a traditional Japanese style inn. While heading down to dinner, a guy came into the elevator, fake-punched me in the stomach, and said in English, "my country". Then in Japanese.
Figure that one out.
たたみ(tatami) mats are fun. So are ふとん(futons).

Went up to 八戸(hachinohe) to meet with host families. Mine is Mr. and Mrs. 川崎(Kawasaki). They had three kids, but are all grown up now and have moved on. Mr. 川崎 took me to the festival preparations. Tried scallops. Hated it.
Then a creepy old guy hit on me. Said I had the face of a movie star, and that if he was female, he would be in love. Mr. 川崎 laughed.
...yeah...
The festival at night was pretty amazing though. If the festival we're participating in when we're in 青森(aomori), then it's going to be absolutely jaw-dropping.
Another night with host family tomorrow, then 青森, then I get one final night in 東京(tokyo). Probably one more update before I head back to the states, maybe two, so watch out ゲラゲラ (that's the name of the net cafe).
I should add I've eaten too much raw fish in the last two days. My stomach is wondering why I'm punishing it.
