Oh, lord.

Been a while since my last update, I think. I feel so incredibly cultured since moving to Chicago. So far, I've seen Susan Graham, Dolora Zajick, and Deborah Voigt in "Iphegenie," "Trovatore" and "Salome", respectively. Plus, I got a Wailin' Jennys concert last month, which makes life even better...so much incredible music in this city...I just wish I had enough time and money to take it all in. It's ridiculous. For the added amusement of voceconbrio, I thought I'd share how phallic/yanic-minded I am. Tonight (Katia agreed with me), Salome took place in a uterus with a vagina-like opening in the back where all characters entered/exited, with the exception of Johannan who was raised from his prison through a tube in the center of the stage. As his cage was raised (still within this clear tube), the stage turned red...basically, Johannan popped Salome's emotional/mental cherry. I thought I was reading *WAY* too much into it, but I really think that was the intent and it made total sense when I explained it to Katia. Anyway. Little Debbie was fabulous (what else would you expect?) and looked smashing at the end of the Dance of the Seven Veils. She sounded a little tired in her middle voice, but was still quite amazing.

Life other than that is okay. I got my refund check (YAY!) and may live in my apartment for the next few months. I'm excited about not being thrown onto the streets. Tons of homework (I got mine finished for tomorrow, which is why I can actually post at the moment) and SO much to memorize before juries. However, that's to be expected and I'm dealing with it...by quietly screaming in my pillow before I pass out each night from sheer exhaustion. Dave got into both Duke and Georgetown for law school...I have a smart brother and I'm proud of him. :) I'm also proud of Nate, who just made it to All State for jazz piano...I'm so very proud of my ex-student...he's such a bright boy. I think that's it for here...for now...no drama at the moment...it's all very dull and school-related. I'll write again soon. Much love from the Windy City...*mwah*
