Greetings oh ye citizens of livejournal!
this is my first lj entry from my shiny new computer that i recently acquired (well, bought sounds better i suppose, otherwise it sounds like it came off the back of a lorry, which it might have, who knows!) anyway it's very exciting. i haven't had a PC in an AGE and i've wanted to get one for a long time because i was fed up of my uberslow laptop. it's super zippy. i got it from some guys in a computer shop my dad gets a lot of stuff from and the lad that built it for me did me a really sweet deal. and the guy that was there when we picked it up said it was a monster bwahahaaha.
it really is true that you can get stuff cheaper if you buy it from people at a local place who build it up for you to your specifications. i was looking at a dell, but they always give you stuff you don't really want when you're designing your own PC to your own specs, and don't give you stuff you want. so this was excellent. and my dad bought me a flat screen monitor for christmas. hurrah!
i'm not used to all this poweeeeeeeeer. and as soon as my broadband arrives, there'll be no stopping me! that should arrive next week, but probably not before i go to france, which sucks but nevermind.
so what am i up to at the moment you ask? (or not, but i'll tell you anyway ;)) well, not much at the moment, but next week i am jetting off to france to visit my sister and my new older brother. but it's not all a social visit! i'm taking a two week long french course in strasbourg to improve what conversational french i picked up in montreal. it's exciting! and i'm also thinking of taking it even further when i get back to the UK and doing an OU diploma or something (aaah
1d10t - you'll be so proud!! :P ). i'm still looking into the ins and outs of that one. seeing as i've finally decided i probably won't do anything useful with my degree (other than use it to get credits for other study) i want to study some other things. i've missed learning a lot but i can't afford to go back to uni to do a masters and i don't want to do a geophysics masters anyway.
so me wants to do some learning. and also get a crappy job in an office to pay for it. yaaaaay!
in other news, i'd like to thank
jellyslastjam for explaining to me the difference between RAM and processors and memory space and all that jazz. i sounded all knowledgable when telling the dude what i wanted on my computer, at least up until he started asking about other things. then i was all like wah? and who? and huh? :D
hope you're all well! peace out! ;P
