Okay, how many of you that voted on the Teyla pairing poll on teylafen actually (a) members of the community and (b) fans of Teyla?

ETA: A lot of you have responded and thanks for that. I've learnt that a lot of my flist are Teyla fans!!

The teylafen community ran a Teyla pairing poll, of which last night I was the sole person to have voted against J/T. Imagine my surprise when I come this morning to find that the anti-J/T numbers had swelled to over the number of members (almost). I check the names and there's a lot of folk who are not on that community voting. Now it's their right to vote because it was an open poll, but I find it a wee bit irritating.

It's just that if it were reversed and on an Elizabeth community would they like it? Hmmm I think not.

I did the same as FP.... Just because everyone I know raves about them!

See that's where fans get a bad name. The poll was on a Teyla fan community, so posting about Teyla pairings on the Sparky thread is just frankly ridiculous. And off topic to boot.

I figure if it is an OPEN poll, then links can be posted to the Sheyla, Sparky, and Spanky threads - to make it even. I wouldn't mind if the john_elizabeth LJ community did an open poll - and advertise it everywhere. It would be fair.

But why Sparky? There is no Sparky link to a Teyla pairing. And yes, I posted on the S/T thread to make it even. I can do the same for Ronon/Teyla.

The appropriate LJ for a comparable poll would be one of the Weir comms.

Really I don't care that much who ships what and who and how, it's just fandom nonsense just annoying me at the moment.

That's true, the choices were only Teyla and ____. No other females were involved in the poll. So it wouldn't be fair for Weir fans to vote. They should have made it a closed community poll to prevent the "trolls". ;o)

the only reason I can think of to post a poll about Teyla-pairings on the Sparky thread is to send a load of Sparky fans over to vote S/T down. Unless there's another reason I can't think of.
