5 of the last 7 nights in a hotel.

So last weekend GFWTR and I got away for the weekend. Abby spent the weekend with Papa and Grandma and we went to Southern Ohio for a weekend away. Drove down Friday. We went and did zip-lines in the morning. That was pretty cool, the ending was the best with a zip line that was nearly a quarter of a mile long and we reached speed of 50-55mph while zipping in the superman position. That afternoon we did a bit of hiking and dinner that night. Drove home Sunday.

I was home two nights and then drove to New Jersey for work. Was there four days three night working at break neck speed to assemble 10 prototype rounds that will be live fire tested next month. It was a bit insane on the schedule side. The worst part was the primary engineer on the design was at a conference in Los Vegas. There were MANY lost lesson he could have learned debugging that assembly. The boy needs to learn how to tolerance and fit parts in an assembly in the worst way.

Part of the assembly process was an air gun test. We load the components to be tested in a "bird" that gets loaded in an air gun made from an old (1940's) 155mm artillery piece. The barrel is extended by 170 feet with sections of pipe. They use really high pressure air (upwards of 26,000psi) to launch the bird at acceleration levels similar to the systems expected launch event. The extended length of pipe is pressurized ahead of the bird with a low pressure just enough to keep the bird from hitting the end of the pipe.

We worked 10 hours yesterday and then drove the 7.5 hours home. Suckage for sure.

rambling, job
