A/N:   Sorry for the delay, guys. This stupid writer's block was nearly insuperable, but thanks to my dear friend Calzonafan4life, who inspired me I'm pretty sure I've overcome it. =) So here's the next chapter. Let me know what you think.

Chapter 8

I wake up early the next morning. As I open my eyes, I can’t help but smile at the view that greets me. Next to me lies my beautiful girlfriend, her arms still wrapped around me. I quietly move to lie on my stomache. I place my hands on her abdomen and lay my head on them to get a better look at my Calliope. The sunlight is dancing on her beautiful face, her hair is spilled all about the pillow, her lips are slightly parted. I think, I could get used to waking up like this.

“You know, this is kinda creepy.“ Calliope says, making me jump slightly.

“Geez, Calliope, you scarred the crap out of me!“ I exclaim.

“Sh, you’re gonna wake them.“ She whispers and points over my shoulder to Teddy and Addison, her eyes never leaving mine.

“Yeah, right..“ I say without turning away. “Good morning, beautiful.“

“Morning.“ She replies and leans up a bit to kiss me. “So, you know, watching people in their sleep is creepy?!“ she teases.

„I didn’t watch you sleep!“ I replie and slap her arm playfully. She gives me a look. „Okay, maybe a bit.“ I admit blushing. “But I’m not creepy!“

“Yes, you are!“ she says and starts to tickle my sides. I laugh.

“Stop! Calliope! Stop!“ I try to remain silent. “We’ll wake Teddy and Addison.“ Calliope immediately stops and look over my shoulder. Suddenly she start giggling.

“What’s so funny?“ I ask. She just point behind me towards our friends. I turn around, sitting up in the process. I spot them and start laughing, too. They’re totally wrapped up in each other, legs entangled. They’re lying face to face, holding each other tight. It’s a really cute picture, but at the same time kinda scary. I turn back around to face Calliope. She stopped giggling and is now looking up at me, smiling contently.

“What?“ I chuckle.

“You’re beautiful.“ She states, making me blush.

“Thanks.“ I say, shyly looking away. I feel her reaching up to cup my cheek, forcing me to look in her eyes.

“Arizona, I.. I’ve never felt anything like this before. For anyone. And I’m..“ she hesitates. “I’m scared. And I know it’s crazy, but I am. I want to be with you more than anything else. You make me so happy, but I’m scared of our parents’ reactions. I mean, my family is stricktly catholic and your dad..“ I silence her rambling by kissing her full on her lips. After a few seconds I pull back smiling down at her.

“I’m scared, too.“ I whisper, looking deeply in her eyes.

“You are?“ she asks.

„I am. But it doesn’t matter. We are together and we’ll get through everything together. And if our parents decide to not accept our relationship, if they fail to see our happiness, then we’ll get through this, too. We can do it!“

Calliope quickly flips us over, so that she’s on top of me, straddling me. She leans down and kisses me lightly.

“Thank you.” She says.

“You’re welcome.” I whisper before she leans down again to catch my lips in another kiss. This one quickly turns more passionate when I open my mouth to trace her lips with my tongue.

“Hey lovebirds. Could you keep it down? You’re not alone here.” Addison calls over to us. Calliope smirks and winks at me before rolling of off me to face Addison.

“Really Addison? You call US lovebirds? Then look at your position!” she teases. I glance over to our friends just in time to see Addison’s shocked expression before she wriggles herself free from her embrace with Teddy, causing Teddy to wake up.

“Good morning.” She says. Her eyes land on Addison’s crunched up face. “What’s wrong with you?” she asks, causing Calliope and me to laugh hard.

“Well, my friend,” I say between giggles. “you two were so cute snuggled up together, but Addison doesn’t seem to have enjoyed it. I’m sorry, Teds.” The look on my best friend’s face is priceless and throws me into another fit of giggles.

“How about breakfast?” Addison cuts in, getting up from the couch.

“Yeah, great idea!” Teddy says quickly, getting up as well.

“Are you coming?” Addison asks from the door.

“Yeah, we’ll be down in a minute.” Calliope answers, still giggling. Our friends leave the room, leaving us along with our laughter on the bed.

“Now, that was fun!” I say after we’d calmed down.

“Oh yeah, it was.” Calliope replies, turning on her side to face me. We just lay there, looking at each other for a while.

“We should go down.” I sigh and get up reluctantly. Calliope follows me to the door, but before we head out, she grabs my hand and turns me around. She puts her arms around my waist and places a soft kiss on my lips.

“You’re the best.” She whispers, making me smile.

She kisses my one last time before taking my hand. We walk down together to join our friends in the kitchen. As we enter the room, I can’t contain another small giggle. Calliope nudges me lightly to shut me up, but I can see that she’s struggling with her own laughter. The sight that’s greeting us is just too funny. Teddy and Addison are sitting at opposite ends of the kitchen table, staring at each other.

“Are we interrupting a staring contest or something?” Calliope chuckles, making them jump in surprise.

“Um, no, we were just.. thinking about something.” Addison stutters.

“I’m sure you were.” Calliope says sarcastically. Noticing the somehow pained expression on Teddy’s face, I decide to cut in.

“Well, it’s past eleven now, so we only got one hour until Tim will pick Teddy and me up. Let’s eat.” I say. Teddy gives me a small, but thankful smile. I smile back at her while Calliope moves towards the fridge.

“Hm, I could make us some pancakes.” She suggests.

“Yay! They’re my favorites!” I squeal. The others laugh at me, while Calliope gathers all the supplies she needs. Teddy, Addison and I prepare the table before Addison makes some coffee. I move to stand behind my girlfriend and wrap my arms around her waist.

“Mh, this smells delicious.” I whisper in her ear, resting my head on her shoulder.

“Thanks. I hope you’ll like them.” She replies, leaning back into me a bit.

“I bet I will.” I lean forward to press a light kiss on her cheek.

“Ugh, Teddy, make it stop!” Addison groans. “I think I’m gonna throw up!” Teddy just chuckles and winks at me as I let go of my girlfriend.

“Oh Addie, you’re only jealous.” Calliope teases.

“Am not.” Addison mumbles.

“Are too.” Calliope laughs.

“Just because I haven’t had a boyfriend in.. a long time, doesn’t mean I’m jealous.”

“Whatever you say..”

“Mpff..” Addison plops down on a chair and crosses her arms pouting.

Shortly after, we eat our pancakes, joking and laughing along the whole time. Too soon, we hear the doorbell ringing, announcing Tim’s arrival. Teddy and I quickly run upstairs to gather our things, while Calliope opens the door for him. When we arrive back downstairs after a few minutes, the others are already waiting for us.

“Morning guys. Ready to go home?” Tim asks.

“Yep, everything’s packed and we’re ready to leave.” Teddy replies, before hugging Calliope. Getting to Addison, she hesitated, but decides to hug her, too. It’s cute. “Bye you two.”

“Bye.” Calliope and Addison say at the same time.

“Bye Addie.” I say hugging her before kissing my girlfriend goodbye. “Bye Calliope.”

“Bye Zona.”

Teddy, Tim and I head out and get into his car after putting our bags into the trunk. Teddy and Tim spend the time of the ride to Teddy’s home catching up while I remain silent. I can’t hide anymore. I need to tell my parents. I’m so happy I think I might burst. And I want them to be happy with me, for me. I hope they’ll accept me and my relationship with Calliope. I mean, I’m sure mom will understand, but dad..

“Zona?”

“Huh?” I look up at Teddy.

“I said goodbye.” Teddy giggles.

“Oh, yeah, bye.” I stutter. “Sorry, I just thought about something.”

“Or someone?!” Tim asks.

“Shut up.”

“Anyway, I gotta go. Bye you guys.” Teddy says and gets out.

“Bye.” I get out as well and hug her before getting back into the car next to my brother.

“So, how was the party?” Tim starts, but I interrupt him.

“I’ll tell mom and dad.”

“Really?” I nod. “That’s great! But why all of the sudden?”

“I love her, Tim. I don’t wanna hide that from my own parents. I want to show them how happy I am. I want them to see that I’m in love.” I explain.

“Okay, if you tell them exactly that, I’m sure they’ll understand and support you.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right. I’m not really worried about mom though. It’s dad’s reaction I fear. He’s a military man and you know what the military thinks of homosexuals..”

“AZ, you’re his daughter. He’ll come around. You’re his little princess. You’ll always be!”

“I hope you’re right.” I say and look out of the window. Only after a few more minutes we arrive at home, but before we go inside, Tim grabs my shoulders and looks in my eyes.

“You can do this. I’ll be right there with you whenever you’re ready.” He says.

“Thank you. I think I’ll do it now before I think better of it.” I hug him and we go inside. “Mom! Dad! We’re home!” I call out.

“We’re in the kitchen honey!” mom calls back. I leave my bag at the foot of the stair and join my parents in the kitchen. Tim remains right behind me.

“Hey.” I greet and hug them both.

“Hey, honey. How was the party?” mom asks.

“It was awesome! I really had a good time.” I answer smiling.

“That’s good.” Mom says.

“Arizona, are you okay? You look a bit pale.” Dad asks worriedly.

“Actually, I need to talk to you.” I start. “ And it’s not easy for me.”

“Honey, we’re your parents. You can tell us everything.” Mom assures me. I nod and take a deep breath.

“Okay, mom, dad, Calliope isn’t just a friend. She’s my girlfriend. I’m gay.” I rush out, scared I might lose my nerve. My parents just look at me. “Say something!” I say desperately after a while. They look at each other while Tim places a supportive hand on my shoulder.

“I only have one question for you.” Dad says. Oh god, he’s throwing me out! “Are you still who I raised you to be?” Okay, that’s the last thing I expected.

“Yes, sir.” I answer honestly. Mom just smiles at me.

“Good.” Dad says “I think you know that we want to meet this girl.”

“Um.. yeah, okay” I say, still kinda surprised by their reaction.

“Invite her for tonight. She’s having dinner with us.” He states.

“Um, I ask her. I don’t know though, if her parents will allow her..” I start, but dad cuts me off by raising his hand.

“Nineteen hundred, sharp.” He says and gets up. “I’m heading to my office now. I got some work to do.” With that he leaves. I look at mom.

“You know him, he can’t show emotions.” She laughs. I look at her confused.

“Is that all you gotta say? I mean, you’re really okay with it?” I ask.

“Arizona, you’re our daughter. We love you no matter what and as long as you’re happy, we are too.” She replies.

“See? Told you?” Tim whispers in my ear.

“I am. Happy, I mean. I love her so much!” I smile.

“That’s great, honey.” Mom says smiling. “Now you better call your girl and invite her over.”

“You’re right. I just hope her parents allow her to come.” I say. “I don’t wanna have to tell THE colonel she won’t make it.”

“Ah, don’t worry about your father. I’ll handle him if I need to.” She winks. I nod and go upstairs into my room. I grab my phone and dial Calliope’s number.

“Hello?” Calliope answers.

“Hey Calliope, it’s me.” I replie.

“Hey Zona. Already missing me?” she asks and I hear her smile.

“Actually, I do, but that’s not why I’m calling.”

“Okay, what’s up?”

“Well, remember how we talked about our parents this morning?”

“Yeah, why?”

“I’ve told them.”

“You did? And? How did they react? They don’t have a problem with us, do they?”

“No Calliope. Calm down. They’re okay with our relationship. Actually they want to meet you. Tonight.”

“Tonight?!” she asks shocked.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. My dad.. you know.. you don’t argue with him.”

“It’s okay, I guess. Wait a minute. Mom?” I hear her shout. “Can I go to Arizona’s tonight?.. Okay, thank you! Zona?”

“Yes?”

“Mom says it’s no problem. When should I be there?”

“7 pm, sharp!”

“Sharp, huh?!” she chuckles.

“Yeah, my dad..” I explain, smiling to myself.

“Oh.. okay.. should I be scared?”

“Don’t be. They will love you. Trust me.”

“Okay, so I’ll se you then. Bye.”

“Bye.” I smile.

I hang up and go back downstairs to tell mom that Calliope will come to dinner. After that I return to my room. I’ve got four hours until the apocalypse starts. Yay..
