Fanfic: The heart's melody (7/?)
It’s friday. Calliope’s birthday. And I only have one hour left to get ready before Tim will take me to her house. Again my drawer is empty and I try to figure out what to wear. I already decided to wear a dess, but the question now is which one. The yellow one, the blue one or the rose one. I sigh.
“Tim! I need your help!” I yell. Only seconds later the door opens and reveals my very ammused looking brother.
“I already wondered when you’d freak out.” He teases.
“I’m not freaking out!” I say, feigning offense. He gives me a look. “Okay, maybe a bit. I just don’t know which dress is the best choice.” I admit, flopping down on a chair.
“Wear the blue one.” He says. “It brings out your eyes and Callie loes your eyes, right?”
“She does.” I smile. “You’re right. I’ll wear it.” I say. “Now out with you. I need to change.” I push him out of the room playfully.
“Very nice!” he shouts through the now closed door. “How about a thank you?”
“Thank you!” I yell out to him. I quickly change into the dress and put my white ballerinas on. I decide to wear my hair straight today and to put on only a bit make-up. Just some lip gloss and maskara. After getting ready I look at myself in the mirror. Yep, I think I look okay. I grab my white purse and head out to meet Tim at his car. I quickly say goodbye to my parents before leaving. I find Tim already waiting for me. We get into the car and he starts the motor.We drive mostly in silence. I’m too unpatient to see my Calliope to talk about anything. The only thing that makes me kinda sad is that we’ll have to hide from the others. Which means no hand holding, no kissing, no cuddling .. I don’t know if I’ll survive being so close to her without actually being with her.
As we arrive, I quickly say bye to Tim, grab my purse and walk to the door. I ring the bell and wait. Only seconds later the door opens and Calliope comes into view. My breath hitches immediately. She looks stunning. I mean, she always does, but today .. wow! She’s wearing a black, knee long dress and fitting black heels. Her hair is pulled up and some loose curls frame her smiling face. Yep, this will be torture.
“Hey.” Calliope says, wrapping her arms around me.
“Hi birthdaygirl.” I replie and kiss her cheek. “This is for you.” I say and hold out the small package after pulling back.
“Zona, you shouldn’t have gotten me anything” she says. “You already gave me the perfect present.”
“Which is?” I ask confused.
“You being my girlfriend.” She answers and kisses me lightly.
“You’re so cheesy.” I chuckle.
“So what? You love it.”
“That I do.” ‘As much as I love you.’ I think. “But none the less, this is your present.” I say hoding out the package once more.
“Thank you.” She says before taking my hand and leading me through the house into the garden. “Hey guys. For those who don’t know her yet, this is Arizona.” She introduces me to the other guests. “Zona, this is Mark, Jackson, Alex, Lucy and you know Addie, Mer, Cristina and Lexie.”
“Hi.” I greet the group.
“Seems like Teddy’s the only one missing now.” Calliope says. Right on cue the doorbell rings. “Ah, speaking of the devil. I’ll be right back.” She walks inside leaving me standing in front of her friends, shifting my weight nervously from one foot to the other.
“We don’t bite. You can come nearer and talk to us.” Addison says. I feel my cheeks getting red and walk over to them. “We never had the chance to talk before. Do you like the time with the choir?”
“Oh, I love it!” I answer, relieved that she started the conersation. “I always hae such a great time with all these great people there. Apart from you know who, of course.” I say with an overdone disgusted face. The others laugh.
“I like you!” Cristina says still laughing.
“Why, thank you.” I smile and bow lightly, causing the others to laugh even harder.
“What’s so funny?” Calliope asks as she rejoins us with Teddy.
“We just claimed that we like your new friend here.” Mark says pointing at me.
“Well, great!” Calliope flashes me a bright smile. “Now guys, this is Teddy. She’s Arizona’s best friend and newest member of our choir. Teddy, this is Mark, Jackson, Alex, Lucy and of course Addie, Mer, Cristina and Lexie.”
“Hey.” Teddy greets the group. “Hey Az.”
“Hey yourself.” I greet back.
“Great. Now that everybody’s here, why don’t we turn on the music and get the party started?!” Calliope says excitedly, clapping her hands together.
“Whoohoo!” Cristina shouts and everyone laughs. Shortly after everyone’s having a great time. Cristina and Meredith ‘dance it out’, as they call their weird jumping around. Alex and Lucy are making out on a bench a bit away from everyone else. Lexie is talking and fooling around with Jackson. Mark, who’s playing darts with Calliope and Addison shots them jealous glances which provides him to be lightly smacked by Addison a few times. Teddy is talking to me about her long-distance relationship with Owen, but I’m only half listening. I’m too busy staring at my beautiful girlfriend. She looks so gorgeous and so hot in that dress. The way her brow furrows and she bits her lip in concentration before throwing the dart .. it takes everything I have to not kiss her in front of everybody right then and there.
“Arizona? Are you even listening to me?” Teddy asks slightly annoyed.
“Huh? Oh, sorry Teddy. What did you say?” I ask a bit embaressed.
“Oh, nothing.” Teddy rolls her eyes. “Just keep making goo-goo eyes at you girlfriend.”
“I’m not making goo- ..” I start.
“Yes, you are!” Teddy cuts me off.
“Hey, Arizona.” Addison says walking over to us. “Yould I hae a word alone with you?”
“Um, sure.” I replie looking over to Calliope, who’s giving me an apologetic smile. I gulp. I turn to Teddy. “Is it okay?”
“Yeah, no problem. It’s not like you would listen to me anyway.” She says sticking out her tongue at me.
“Hey! Not nice!” I call after her as she walks over to Calliope and Mark. I turn to Addison. “So, what do you wanna talk about?”
“First of all, I know about you and Callie.” She says.
“Um, I figured, but why do you wanna talk?” I ask uncertain of what’s coming next. She must sense my fear.
“Oh no, don’t think I hae a problem with that! I don’t! I’m really happy for Callie after all that happened and I really like you.” She assures me. “No, I just wanted to know what your intention with my best friend are.”
“Oh,” I replie, “this is th famous ‘you break her heart and I’ll break you’-speech, right?”
“Yes, you could say that.” Addison chuckles. “So?”
“I .. uh .. this stays between us, right?” I ask.
“Of course.”
“Good.” I take a deep breath. “Addison, Calliope means everything to me. She’s the bst thing that’s ever happened to me. The first time I saw her, I already knew she was special. She’s beautiful, inside and out. And even if you think it’s crazy and too soon to say, I’m already in love with her. Deeply. So, I can honestly say that my intentions are the best.” I finish. Addison smiles at me.
“You’re quite an orator, aren’t you?” she chukles. “But good, now, how about we join the others at the dart board?” she suggests.
“Okay.” We walk over to Calliope and the others. As we arrive, I see Addison giving Calliope thumbs up in the corner of my eye. My girlfriend smiles relieved. Okay .. Just as I’m about to join the group, Alex calls over to us.
“Hey Cal! When are you planning on opening your presents?” he asks.
“How about now?” Calliope replies. We all gather around the present table while Calliope opens the first one. “Oh god, Mark! Two tickets for the Black Eyed Pease concert! You are incredible! Thank you!” she says happily and hugs him.
“No problem, Cal.” He replies.
“Okay, now mine.” Addison cuts in and hands Calliope her present.
“Addie!” she exclaims after opening it and revealing a brand new CD player “I can’t accept it!”
“Yes, you can. I know, yours is broken and I thought you could use a new one.” Addison smiles.
“But that’s too much!”
“No, it isn’t. Just take it!”
“Thanks! You’re the best!” Calliope says and hugs her. Beside those two presents Calliope got two tickets for the cinema from Alex and Lucy, all ‘Butterfly effect’ DVDs from Lexie, Meredith and Cristina, the new Black Eyed Pease CD and the coupon and a box of pralines from Teddy. At last she opens my present.
“Wow! Arizona, this is beautiful!” Calliope says in awe. “Thank you.” She walks over to me and pulls me into her arms.
“I’m glad you like it” I say. We pull back and she smiles at me.
“I love it! Help me put it on?” she asks and holds out the bracelet to me. I take it and fasten the clasp around her wrist. Calliope looks at it. “It’s really beautiful.” I smile. A cough brings us both back to reality and I reluculantly let go of her hand.
“Now, let’s go inside and watch a movie.” Calliope says. Everybody helps getting everything inside before we all sit down in the huge livingroom. There ar three couches in there, a small one, on which Alex and Lucy sit down and two big ones. Meredith, Cristina, Lexie and Jackson sit down on the first, while Mark, Addison, Calliope and I take the other. We decide on the movie ‘Finale Destination’. I’m not really excited about it, since I hate horror movies, but maybe that’s a good excuse to cling to my girlfriend. Said girlfriend now starts the movie and sits down next to me, maybe een a bit too close than appropriate for just friends, but it’s dark and I’m the last one to complain. During the whole movie I cuddle closer to Calliope, clinging to her, especially when the movie gets a bit too bad for me. Halfway through the movie Calliope had laid her arm around my shoulders. Now, as it’s over, she pulls her arm away and scoots a bit away from me as not to let anybody see our closeness. It’s now past ten pm. Mark turns on the music again and we all start to dance wildly around the room to the beat. I throw my arms up in the air and jump around with Teddy. Suddenly someone grbs my hand and leads me away from the crowd. Calliop shoves me into the bathroom and locks the door behind us. The next thing I feel is the cold wall against my back and her soft lips against mine. She pushes her tongue in my mouth and I can’t stop the small moan from escaping my throat. After a while we pull back breathlessly and she lays her forehead against mine.
“I wanted to do that since you arrived here, looking like that.” Calliope says. “You look absolutely beautiful.”
“You too.” I replie and peck her full lips.
“Thank you.” She whispers and pulls me into another kiss. This time it’s slow and gentle, but none the less passionate. Oh dear, I can’t get enough of this. I think I’ll never get tired of kissing my Calliope. It feels so good. So right. God, I love this girl!
“Hey lovebirds! Get out, I ned to pee!” Addison yells through the door, causing us to pull apart laughing.
“We’ll be right out!” Calliope yells back and kisses me one last time before pulling fully away from our embrace. We hastily rearrange our dishelved hair and open the door.
“Ugh, finally!” Addison groans and gets inside, closing the door behind herself. Calliope and I look at each other and break out in a fit of giggles. After composing ourselves, we go back to the others and join them on the dancefloor. During the wild dancing, our arms ‘accidentally’ brush and we ‘accidentally’ bump into each other a few times. After a while I got to the bar to grab something to drink. Everybody, besides Teddy, Lexie and ma is drinking bear or prosecco. I just decide to drink another coke.
“Hey blondie, what are you drinking?” Mark appears next to me.
“A coke. And my name is Arizona.” I answer slightly annoyed.
“A coke? Really?” he says. “Come on, this is a party! Here, drink this.” He hands me a glass of what I presume prosecco and lays his arm around my shoulders.
“Uh, no Mark, thanks. I’m good.” I say and try to hand him the glass back.
“Come on, drink. Have a little fun!” he insists.
“No really, I don’t want to.” I shove his arm off my shoulders.
“Hey guys. Is there a problem?” Thank god, Calliope!
“Your new friend is a party pooper.” Mark says and rolls his eyes.
Calliope looks at me. “Why?”
“I don’t wanna drink prosecco. I don’t like it.” I answer.
“Mark, what is your problem? Just let her drink coke if she wants.” Calliope adresses Mark, clearly annoyed.
“Come on, Cal, I’m just trying to have a little fun.” He winks.
“Well, then try with someone else!” Calliope snaps.
“It’s okay, Calliope. I don’t mind.” I try to calm her.
“Calliope?” Mark asks. “Since when do you let people call yo that?”
“But I care!” Calliope replies to me, ignoring Mark.
“Geez Cal, calm donw. Since when do you have a problem with me flirting with your friends?”
“Since you’re flirting with my girlfriend!” Calliope yells angrily. My eyes widen in shock and everyone stops dancing and laughing. All eyes are now on us. I really wish I was somewhere else right now. “I mean .. um .. shit!” she curses under her breath and looks at me apologetically.
Mark is the first to break the silence. “Wait! You and blondie?” he asks disbelievingly.
Sensing that there’s no way to get out of this situation by lying, I speak up. “Yes, Calliope and me. Does anyone have a problem with that?” I ask the group.
“Um, no, it’s just .. surprising.” Mark says and everybody laughs.
“Okay, then let’s dance.” I announce and grab Calliope’s hand to pull her to the dancefloor. I see Teddy and Addison shove the others on the dancefloor as well and give them a thankful smile. They both nod at me as I wrap my arms around Calliope’s neck. After a whil everything’s back to normal, except a few stolen glances in our direction.
“I’m sorry, Zona. I didn’t mean to yell it out like that. It’s just .. Mark was being an ass and ..” Calliope starts.
“And you were jealous.” I smirk.
“I wasn’t!” I look at her intensly. “Okay, I was, but none the less, I’m sorry for outing us like that.”
“It’s okay.” I assure her. “They’re all fine with it and besides, now I can snuggle and dance with my beautiful girlfriend and kiss her and not do it secretly.” I wink.
“You’re right.” She laughs. After a few minutes of silent dancing she puts on a serious face. “Thank you.”
“For what?” I ask confused.
“For standing up for our relationship, for saving me back there, for being my girlfriend.” Calliope answers and kisses me lightly.
“No need to thank me.” I say and smile up at her. We continue to sway slowly to the music for a few other songs before the guests, that don’t sleep over, announce that they’re leaving. I look at my watch and realise that I’ve danced with Calliope for nearly an hour. Wow! I didn’t even realise .. We quickly say goodbye to them and they drive away in Mark’s car, leaving only Addison, Teddy, Calliope and me at the house.
“I guess, we should prepare our beds in my room for later.” Calliope suggests. We follow her upstairs, bringing our bags into her room. As we enter, I realise I’ve never been here before. The room is really beautiful and so fitting. In the corner behind the door is a huge black bed with two dark red pillows and a dark red comforter. In the corner next to it at the window is her desk. The other half of the room seems like a living area with a TV, a blueray player and a black couch. The wall on this side of the room is painted bright red while the others are white. Above her bed are some posters of music groups and pictures of friends.
“So, two can sleep in my bed and two on the couch.” Calliope says.
“Teddy and I take the couch.” Addison cuts in quickly.,
“Definitely.” Teddy says. I look at Calliope and smile nervously. On one side I couldn’t be more happy about sleeping in one bed with her, but on the other side I’m scared. I know it’s stupid. It’s not like anything would happen, but still ..
“Okay, then let’s get settled.” Calliope says and helps Teddy and Addison to pop up the couch whil I unpack their sleeping bags. As soon as we’re finished, we decide to watch another movie. Another horror movie .. yay .. luckily Calliope is there to protect me. Hehe. Addison, Teddy and Calliope sit down on the couch while I make myself comfortable between my girlfriends legs, leaning against her front. Calliope wraps her arms around me, laces our fingers together and lays her head on my shoulder. I hear Teddy and Addison giggling next to us. I turn my head towards them to find them staring at us. I stick out my tongue an return my attention to the TV. We’re watching ‘Sleepy Hollow’ which the others say isn’t as bad as ‘Final Destination’ and not too scary. I hope they’re right ..
After the moie the four of us get ready for bed. The movie really wasn’t that scary though I still used every opportunity to cuddle closer to my Calliope. Who wouldn’t?! It’s way past two am when we finally get into bed. I lay down next to Calliope, leaving a small distance between us, facing her.
“Goodnight everyone.” Addison calls over in the darkness.
“Goodnight.” We call back.
“Goodnight, Zona.” Calliope whispers before kissing my deeply.
“Goodnight.” I whisper back, snuggling closer, so that my head is resting on her shoulder and my arm’s wrapped around her torso. She wraps her arm around me as well and holds me tight, kissing my head before we both fall asleep.

“I wanted to do that since you arrived here, looking like that.” Calliope says. “You look absolutely beautiful.”
“You too.” I replie and peck her full lips.
“Thank you.” She whispers and pulls me into another kiss. This time it’s slow and gentle, but none the less passionate. Oh dear, I can’t get enough of this. I think I’ll never get tired of kissing my Calliope. It feels so good. So right. God, I love this girl!
“Hey lovebirds! Get out, I ned to pee!” Addison yells through the door, causing us to pull apart laughing.
“We’ll be right out!” Calliope yells back and kisses me one last time before pulling fully away from our embrace. We hastily rearrange our dishelved hair and open the door.
“Ugh, finally!” Addison groans and gets inside, closing the door behind herself. Calliope and I look at each other and break out in a fit of giggles. After composing ourselves, we go back to the others and join them on the dancefloor. During the wild dancing, our arms ‘accidentally’ brush and we ‘accidentally’ bump into each other a few times. After a while I got to the bar to grab something to drink. Everybody, besides Teddy, Lexie and ma is drinking bear or prosecco. I just decide to drink another coke.
“Hey blondie, what are you drinking?” Mark appears next to me.
“A coke. And my name is Arizona.” I answer slightly annoyed.
“A coke? Really?” he says. “Come on, this is a party! Here, drink this.” He hands me a glass of what I presume prosecco and lays his arm around my shoulders.
“Uh, no Mark, thanks. I’m good.” I say and try to hand him the glass back.
“Come on, drink. Have a little fun!” he insists.
“No really, I don’t want to.” I shove his arm off my shoulders.
“Hey guys. Is there a problem?” Thank god, Calliope!
“Your new friend is a party pooper.” Mark says and rolls his eyes.
Calliope looks at me. “Why?”
“I don’t wanna drink prosecco. I don’t like it.” I answer.
“Mark, what is your problem? Just let her drink coke if she wants.” Calliope adresses Mark, clearly annoyed.
“Come on, Cal, I’m just trying to have a little fun.” He winks.
“Well, then try with someone else!” Calliope snaps.
“It’s okay, Calliope. I don’t mind.” I try to calm her.
“Calliope?” Mark asks. “Since when do you let people call yo that?”
“But I care!” Calliope replies to me, ignoring Mark.
“Geez Cal, calm donw. Since when do you have a problem with me flirting with your friends?”
“Since you’re flirting with my girlfriend!” Calliope yells angrily. My eyes widen in shock and everyone stops dancing and laughing. All eyes are now on us. I really wish I was somewhere else right now. “I mean .. um .. shit!” she curses under her breath and looks at me apologetically.
Mark is the first to break the silence. “Wait! You and blondie?” he asks disbelievingly.
Sensing that there’s no way to get out of this situation by lying, I speak up. “Yes, Calliope and me. Does anyone have a problem with that?” I ask the group.
“Um, no, it’s just .. surprising.” Mark says and everybody laughs.
“Okay, then let’s dance.” I announce and grab Calliope’s hand to pull her to the dancefloor. I see Teddy and Addison shove the others on the dancefloor as well and give them a thankful smile. They both nod at me as I wrap my arms around Calliope’s neck. After a whil everything’s back to normal, except a few stolen glances in our direction.
“I’m sorry, Zona. I didn’t mean to yell it out like that. It’s just .. Mark was being an ass and ..” Calliope starts.
“And you were jealous.” I smirk.
“I wasn’t!” I look at her intensly. “Okay, I was, but none the less, I’m sorry for outing us like that.”
“It’s okay.” I assure her. “They’re all fine with it and besides, now I can snuggle and dance with my beautiful girlfriend and kiss her and not do it secretly.” I wink.
“You’re right.” She laughs. After a few minutes of silent dancing she puts on a serious face. “Thank you.”
“For what?” I ask confused.
“For standing up for our relationship, for saving me back there, for being my girlfriend.” Calliope answers and kisses me lightly.
“No need to thank me.” I say and smile up at her. We continue to sway slowly to the music for a few other songs before the guests, that don’t sleep over, announce that they’re leaving. I look at my watch and realise that I’ve danced with Calliope for nearly an hour. Wow! I didn’t even realise .. We quickly say goodbye to them and they drive away in Mark’s car, leaving only Addison, Teddy, Calliope and me at the house.
“I guess, we should prepare our beds in my room for later.” Calliope suggests. We follow her upstairs, bringing our bags into her room. As we enter, I realise I’ve never been here before. The room is really beautiful and so fitting. In the corner behind the door is a huge black bed with two dark red pillows and a dark red comforter. In the corner next to it at the window is her desk. The other half of the room seems like a living area with a TV, a blueray player and a black couch. The wall on this side of the room is painted bright red while the others are white. Above her bed are some posters of music groups and pictures of friends.
“So, two can sleep in my bed and two on the couch.” Calliope says.
“Teddy and I take the couch.” Addison cuts in quickly.,
“Definitely.” Teddy says. I look at Calliope and smile nervously. On one side I couldn’t be more happy about sleeping in one bed with her, but on the other side I’m scared. I know it’s stupid. It’s not like anything would happen, but still ..
“Okay, then let’s get settled.” Calliope says and helps Teddy and Addison to pop up the couch whil I unpack their sleeping bags. As soon as we’re finished, we decide to watch another movie. Another horror movie .. yay .. luckily Calliope is there to protect me. Hehe. Addison, Teddy and Calliope sit down on the couch while I make myself comfortable between my girlfriends legs, leaning against her front. Calliope wraps her arms around me, laces our fingers together and lays her head on my shoulder. I hear Teddy and Addison giggling next to us. I turn my head towards them to find them staring at us. I stick out my tongue an return my attention to the TV. We’re watching ‘Sleepy Hollow’ which the others say isn’t as bad as ‘Final Destination’ and not too scary. I hope they’re right ..
After the moie the four of us get ready for bed. The movie really wasn’t that scary though I still used every opportunity to cuddle closer to my Calliope. Who wouldn’t?! It’s way past two am when we finally get into bed. I lay down next to Calliope, leaving a small distance between us, facing her.
“Goodnight everyone.” Addison calls over in the darkness.
“Goodnight.” We call back.
“Goodnight, Zona.” Calliope whispers before kissing my deeply.
“Goodnight.” I whisper back, snuggling closer, so that my head is resting on her shoulder and my arm’s wrapped around her torso. She wraps her arm around me as well and holds me tight, kissing my head before we both fall asleep.
