Never let it be said that Dresden chooses to disappoint.

So - hitting a usual haunt. I'm hungry and I have a couple dollars. Also, I haven't had a decent meal in over a week - maybe more. Rosa spoiled me, then disappeared. Sort of. I assume school got in the way. I've seen evidence of her existence.

"Join me," Greg says from where he's sitting. "bonus points if you grab my steak for me." He jerks his head toward the counter where his plate is ready.

If I didn't know the man was crippled - well, all right, I probably would've gotten his food anyway, but eh -

"Sure." And bless Mac for having mine up when I got in - or was it ordered for me by my impromptu host here?

I slide the plates onto the table without spilling my ale - I think I should win some type of award.

"How's the healing sick people business?"

"The thing about sick people is there's never a deficit." This is said with a bit or a sneer, but the steak makes up for it.

"Same for crack pots. I feel your pain."

Steak's good though. Mac is the best.

"It's a cruel, cruel world out there." Greg bites into the steak, and almost orgasmic look crossing his features for a moment.

I have to laugh - I've known days like that.

Resorting to words of the cavemen: "Good steak?"

"The worst ever.Maybe you shouldn't eat that one, you know. Just to be safe."

[wizard_dresden]

"Nice try. I don't give up steak until I'm sure it's not fit to eat."

Which is 'when my dog snubs it'. Not very often.

"Well, if you get sick, make sure you go to a different hospital, or I'll have to rub it in cause I told you so." Meanwhile, he takes another bite with much the same reaction, the follows it with a generous sip of Ale.

"If I get sick, I'll go to whichever hospital is closest. 'I told you so's' won't hurt me."

"Maybe, maybe not. How's the hand?" Eyes flickered to the hand in question.

I hold up my still-gloved hand and twitch a couple fingers.

"Still attached. In my life - that's a plus."

"So all that magic, and you can't fix it yourself?"

[wizard_dresden]

"Not the burns, no. However, because of the magic is why I still have a hand. Healing magic isn't my forte and the guy I know who's good at it, did what he could. It's getting better, slowly."

Still seems like a crap deal." He sipped his ale casually, watching Harry across the table. "I mean, it kind of seems unfair."
