SO... here's why I am...
As many of you know I wanted to audition for the Sci Fi show: Who Wants to be a Superhero?
That is likely never going to happen, since Sci Fi never renewed for season 3... that being said... Out of the show, came a fantastic thing.
The Forum board on Sci Fi, populated with past auditioners and those who wanted to and never got the chance, found this amazing common ground... and renamed the board, "Skiffytown". There they began writing fiction based on the newly minted heroes and eventually began meeting at Cons, etc... Soon after that, an idea began brewing and forming.
Thus "The Skiffytown League of Heroes" was formed... a non-profit Charitable organization built on the precept that a person doesnt need superpowers to be a hero, just the will to do good and the want to help others.
We have visited childrens hospitals and done "radio shows", gone to cons and done "Kids panels", members have walk for JDRF, MS, and other causes under the banner...
And now we have been invited to march in the NATIONAL INDEPENDANCE DAY PARADE in Washington DC on July 4th!
To answer the question... Yes, we do this all in our 'Hero' costumes, many of them masked. It isnt about the individual, but about the causes.
I will be there and Kathy is coming along as, "Hero Support" and I cant wait! Yes it'll be hot... and yes we'll be tired at the end... but it's worth it, and I'm proud to be a part of it.
The League site is: www.skiffytownheroes.org
as to anything else... life proceeds apace... once I have news on a different project I'll share that as well!
