Hot sake, cold sake...

Spring break has started... although it's still technically very cold and wintery - well, the temps are like Sydney winter.

I went to an end of term party for the school in Niigata. Niigata is surprising very near where I live and this town that we went to is a ski town. You'd think it was still winter because of the abundance of snow!

Another beautiful picture! The snow always looks so beautiful and soft in your pics -- the snow here tends to look harsher, somehow, and as it's all melted away, I'm already envious of the beautiful sculpted drift here :)

That's because it is very dry and powdery - the kind that skiiers and snowboarders like. Due to the winds from Siberia, Japan gets very dry and powdery snow. You can brush it off your coat without getting wet when it snows and it's also not mucky and mushy.

The big pile in the pic above might have also been created when they ploughed the roads. I was amused because it was over 150cm/5ft tall - ie taller than me!
