Drove down to a convention with a friend -- Good conversation on the way, both down and back.
I had some trepidation -- my recent conventions have left me feeling less than stellar, and the amount of work piled up that I was ignoring was even larger than usual -- but I had a great time. There were a few moments of "what am I DOING here", but they were few and far between.
Both nights I was going down to sleep at 1am, and both mornings I was getting up at 7 in order to shower and have the facilities free for my roommates _and_ make it to brekky by 8 -- so the first night I got 6 hours of sleep and the 2nd I got 5.
On the way home we stopped off at a yummy restaurant for lunch/dinner, and then got stuck for an hour or so in not-really-moving traffic just west of Jackson. We saw a wrecker go by, but never really saw anything on our side of the road. A short while beyond where we figured the problem was, though, the westbound lanes had a lot of excitement in them -- firetrucks, ambulances... due to the height of the barrier, (1) I couldn't see much, and (2) I figure it wasn't terribly likely to have been closely related to our problem.
Got home about 7:15 pm. Set the clocks ... oops... missed the timer on the radio, but I think I got the rest -- and then at 7:28 I lay down to nap. Spouse got home from his weekend at 7:33, and had I not been still awake, it would have awakened me. FiL had called, so I suggested spouse return the call, letting me nap. 9pm that call was done, and I managed to get myself out of bed, exercise while the spouse read to me and then read for the spouse -- and then, it being roughly 11:30, aimed bedward. Had to get up 7am today. Ugh. Tired.
But the weekend was so good that I really do feel refreshed. We'll see how long that lasts, but this was a con like cons were meant to be.
And I suppose with all the good food available, it's a wonder that I only put on 2 pounds!
