My summer has been going pretty well.
two_pi_r and I went up to Santa Fe last month, which was fun as usual. We also bottled our wheat beer, which turned out to be really nice, especially in this weather.
Work has kind of sucked, but I've gotten used to it again. It sucks up 11 1/2 hours of my day, but I get alternating Fridays off, and I get out an hour early for the Fridays I do work. I have to get up at 5, which I've gotten used to again pretty easily. One advantage of getting up that early is that the sun rises during my commute and produces really amazing light. If I get ready fast enough, I can snap a few photos before work.
That means I have a bunch of black and white film that I need to get developed, because I obviously don't have access to the school's darkroom and there aren't any professional photo labs in town. I did see a sign at the coffee shop for a guy in town that does black and white film services, but I didn't see anything about scanning, which I really want. There appears to be a good lab near my grandmother's apartment in Milwaukee, so I think I'll get everything done there (more on that in a second.) When I do more stuff developed and scanned, it'll be on my
Flickr account.
I'm taking off of work next Thursday to got to Socorro, because
two_pi_r and I will be meeting up with
latenightparty to go backpacking at Mount Taylor for the weekend. I'll be getting back to Carlsbad Sunday evening, then my parents and I are starting our drive to Milwaukee on Monday morning. We'll be back on the 30th.
On top of all this, I'm taking two online classes over the summer so that I have a shot at graduating in the spring. One is a science history class that involves two text books and some podcasts. The other is a Sci-Fi literature class that covers 7 books. Unfortunately, I'm not a very fast reader.
As a final note, those who don't have Twitter might want to follow me at
