"Bush doesn't care about ANYONE other than those who are making him rich and/or powerful. He would probably sell out his own children if need be (again...imho...)."

uhh...yeah. like poor people. like most of the black people are the area.

"Because the government didn't react fast enough doesn't make it "ok" to "steal luxury items" (everyone has kind of looked the other way when it comes to food, water, diapers, etc etc).
Because the government didn't react fast enough doesn't mean that it's a racial thing."

ah, scott. believing mainstream news media. who's going to "steal luxury items" when you don't have a house to put it in? that's just a fucking stupid thing to say. as for the government not reacting fast enough, how long did it take for congress to jump off their fat asses an try and "save" that fucking vegetable chick in florida? when it's a matter of standing up for the word of 'god', big government can't move quick enough to a camera and run their mouths.

when it takes four to five days of no food, housing and clean water, let alone clean clothes and having your kids see dead bodies in the street, what would you do? wait to drown? wait for bush to help and come in and do some photo ops and leave? fuck. everybody, from entertainers o sports stars to the fucking pope has been, or has plans on going to help in anyway they can.

"If you leave the cookie jar open long enough without keeping an eye on it, then you will find your cookies (or your savings...for those who use said jar for stashing away money) missing."

wow. again, if you're whole life washed away and you have nothing and you can't feed your kid, what would you do? that sentence just pissed me the fuck off. it's that soft american view of tragic events that kills me. and the same attitude that rich people have. "if 'those people' could do anything for themselves, they wouldn't have to steal." and before you get your panties in a bunch jumping up and down, screaming "i didn't say 'those people' and whatever, the point is that you might as well have with that view.

fuck. this shit drives me crazy. people are dying, have lost their whole lives, don't know what the future holds for their families, and all middle and upper class america can say is "they should have known." or, "it didn't happen to me, so who cares." i've heard both comments in the matter of a day at work.

was he over-reaching with the comment? maybe. maybe not. like opinions, everyone can have one. i liked the fact that it was said on live fucking tv and no one in mainstream media is going to touch it. or at least not yet. if they do, it'll be the same song and dance; don't listen to him. he's a rapper. government knows what's best for you and always makes the best choices for your well being......

whatever. i'm done with this shit. i should have just gone to bed.

Let me be a little clearer.
I support what Kanye West said...but he was only half right. You think just because I'm white that Bush cares about me and my family? WRONG. The government is the one who left "the cookie jar" open and now people (of all ethnicities) have taken from it.

We can't just base what we see on the news as 100% truth. Most, if not all, of what they are showing of the vicitms are that of people of non-white ethnicity but I know better and choose to not look at this as a race issue at all. Well I take that back...I look at it as a human race issue.

The government piddle farted around, violent crimes happened while they took their labor day break, people from all around the country (or globe) of various colors and classes have helped out (from average citizens to star athletes). I know this and am not discrediting anyone...except our government.

Our government should have been the first to help...but they waited too long. I know people have died...many more than they are leading us to believe (this way when the number is released the impact of it will be that much more dramatic...that's the way the media works nowadays).

I do care. I know someone who lives down there (and luckily she is ok). Yes I've said they have had plenty of time to get out (because they did know it was coming), but the "blame" is on the government for not reacting fast enough to get the people out. The blame isn't on the people solely. If the people don't trust the government are they going to evacuate when said government tells them to do so?

All people are affected by the slow reacting government and it's agencies, but the media is only going to show you those of non-white descent. I've lived in poor areas in my life (and really don't consider myself "middle class" currently).

Luxury items aside, violent crimes were occuring. If the government was there fast enough maybe these things wouldn't have happened.
