Kargyraa Exploration

I've been able to sing khoomeii and a similar throat singing style, sygyt, for some time now. But what I've always wanted to do is sing kargyraa. It's the low, droning song sung in the mountains. It is majestic. And it is the embodiment of all things bass. And finally, after much experimentation, I have figured out how to do it.

At first I thought it was an extension of vocal fry. But my vocal fry is very weak. And it's not an undertone, either, but rather only the vestibular folds vibrating. It's different to sing kargyraa; the style involves singing a note and constricting the larynx so that the vestibular folds also vibrate, producing a sympathetic undertone one octave down. So far I can do it only early in the morning, but I'm still able to do it.
