Alright, so it took me an hour and a half to get Aiden to sleep tonite. Yes, I said an hour and a half. But you know what? It really wasn't that bad. He was kind of on the grumpy side, but wasn't screaming (thanking that higher power). I tried feeding him downstairs laying on the couch, then I tried the swing. I brought him up in my bedroom (no longer hungry), and I just read to him for an hour. I've got this book, Chicken Soup for the Mothers Soul. It's got a lot of nice stories in it. I'm always reading it to Aiden, but hadn't in a while. I was amazed. Even though there's no pictures, or color, he just laid on my bed next to me, I was holding the book in the air, him staring at it, me reading. It was kind of relaxing. Finally, he told me he had enough of that, so I brought him downstairs again and put him in his swing. I sang him his lullaby (words below) probably about 4 or 5 times... About 3 minutes per. So yea, that's a good 15 minutes singing the same thing over and over again. Again, nothing I really mind much. Still not sleeping, I put his music from his swing on and let that play... Last check he was staring at the wall drifting. He's probably sleeping now. Such a sweet baby!
Hush Little Baby
(Different version, same tune, got from a book at a doctors visit)
Hush little baby don't say a word
Momma's going to show you a hummingbird
If that hummingbird should fly
Momma's going to show you the evening sky
When the night time shadows fall
Momma's going to hear the crickets call
While their song drifts from afar
Momma's going to search for a shooting star
When that star has dropped from view
Momma's going to read a book with you
When that story has been read
Momma's going to bring you your warm bedspread
If that quilt begins to wear
Momma's going to bring you your teddy bear
If that teddy bear won't hug
Momma's going to catch you a lightening bug
If that lightening bug won't glow
Momma's going to play on her old banjo
If that banjo's out of tune
Momma's going to show you the harvest moon
As that moon drifts through the sky
Momma's going to sing you a lullaby
