Man in the mirror
I remember in the late 1980s while wondering about man’s inhumanity to man that I first saw the original music video -Man in the mirror-
It started with capture videos homeless people on any American city, then pictures of children starving in Eastern Europe and Africa, followed by pictures of 20th century tyrants, to pictures of people who changed the world such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King, to Mother Theresa, to regular people like you and me making a change to help our neighbors in whatever way possible.
Being notorious for purposefully ignoring the news I did not learn of Michael Jackson’s death until much later yesterday while some media outlet was playing this song which caught my attention again. Michael and I had lost touch over the years given his extreme eccentricities, but despite being deeply flawed his song about looking in the mirror and making a change resonates with me today:
