Interesting...

I was just logging the past few days' exercise and realized that yesterday's run, which felt so tough, was done at a *much* faster pace than usual. So maybe I was premature in blaming Sunday's walk for my tiredness.

Did Edward ever get Plantar Fasciitis from running? I remember you saying he had something at one point but I don't remember what. I'm having heel pain :(

Yeah, he developed it years ago when he was training for a marathon, and it flares up now and then. As I understand it, pf happens when you get microtears in your plantar fascia. They heal while you sleep (when your foot is relaxed) but tear open again as soon as you bend your foot to put it on the floor when you get out of bed (so generally you'll feel pain, most commonly in your heel but sometimes in your arch, when you first start walking around, but it goes away after that). Then you repeat the cycle every day, so it never has a chance to get better.

Edward has this weird sock-looking thing that keeps his foot flexed at night so the tears can heal properly (but he's not very good about wearing it).

Yeah I started getting heel to mid-arch pain before I started training for the 10k. I was just blaming my daily shoes which have little arch support for my high arches. And then I like to go barefoot or where sandals, it was bound to give me issue. I think I can head it off if I start taking care of it now.

I know what socks you are talking about. Right now I put some support things in my shoes and I'll look at my sneakers and see if they are wearing down. I need a golf ball or tennis ball to roll underneath my foot, I read that helps a lot. Oh and ice after a run :(

That sucks. :( I hope it doesn't become a big problem. Your running shoes aren't worn out, are they? I know Edward sometimes starts feeling pain when his shoes need to be replaced. You should email him - he might be able to give you some tips on stretches or post-run care or something, since he's been dealing with this off and on for a good while.
