long time no see.
I’m a little excited today because I am started a new job tonight! Not a replacement job, another job.
For approximately the next month I will be working at the American Girl warehouse in DeForest Monday through Saturday from 6 to 11pm picking orders and doing other things as needed. They are always looking for seasonal employees to pick and wrap their $$$$ dolls and accessories. They are even offering referral bonuses right now. So if the lady whose name I used and myself both stay til the end of the season, we each get an extra $500!
That was appealing to me since the reason I decided to take on this additional employment was to save every penny towards moving out. Specifically security deposit and first month’s rent on a place of my own!!
Seems like it’s been a while since I’ve written and not exactly sure where I left off.. but things have been moving along alright. We still have not filed for divorce yet because he wants to wait until we get our tax money back and pay off more debts. So that sucks to keep waiting on that…especially since once you file it will still take a minimum of 120 days in WI… But he’s sold a bunch of his video game collection and paid off some bills and such, and plans to sell a lot of old computer equipment too. Including a 1980’s IBM he bought new in the box just a couple years ago and put some neat work into. I don’t have a lot to sell since I haven’t really bought much for myself over the years. But I am working on being able to keep my Harley since it’s so close to being paid off anyway and I really like riding and doubt that I would get myself a new one anytime soon. Anyway, point being, Jan is actually working on trying to help get our monthly payments down to more manageable levels for each of us.
Goodish news is that since he is now planning to stay in our current apartment, there is really no reason I would have to wait until June to move out! I thought I would have to stay and help pay for it until the lease is up, but if he can handle it on his own, and if I can get some money saved up already before Christmas, maybe I’ll try moving out after the new year! May have to wait until the taxes come back and some more debt is gone, but still I could be out by spring!
I have looked at apartments in Windsor and it seems to be really challenging to find anything cheaper than we are paying now (~$1,300) without being on the one crappy road. However, when looking in DeForest, who we share a school district with, I can find comparable units for just $900-$1,000! So I think I will probably be moving to Deforest and just driving Davin to school in Windsor the weeks I have the boys. And Julien is in middle school and there is just one for Windsor/DeForest anyway. So school transportation would really only be an issue for the next 2- 2 ½ years while Davin is still in elementary school.
