This is totally random and I'm sure you guys are going to be like "who cares" but for me this was a very happy little moment. :)
So... I have 3 computers.
#1 - the desktop: ancient & all-but dead. Correction: officially dead. Just tried it; turns itself off every few seconds. I tried for three minutes before (after a forth shut off) I am officially giving up on it.
#2 - the Vista laptop: I loath this laptop. It's functional and my newest of the three, but it has Vista which could make any normally sane person want to chuck their computer against the nearest brick wall.
#3 - my beloved XP laptop - I love this laptop. It is by far the 'favorite' laptop I've ever owned. It is very light weight, extremely durable (as can be shown by it's many battle scars), and I have decorated it with stickers to hide some of the scuff marks :) This machine has no screen and so is currently hooked to the TV and used to watch Netflix and Hulu to avoid buying cable - and to keep it "usful" because I do love it so. :)
About 2 hours ago I tried to watch a movie on ch131.com and my XP froze up. I control/alt/deleted - nothin'. I esc'd - still frozen. I finally just turned it off and... it wouldn't come back on.
I tried all kinds of things, including taking it apart and taking out the hard drive to replug it in and make sure everything was tight (another reason I love this thing - everything inside is soooo simple even a computer-dunderhead like me can confidently mess around in there) and nothing worked.
I was completley heartbroken.
I left the TV on, with it's blue screen informing me of "no signal" from the laptop just in case the situation changed.
And finally! Just a few minutes ago (after a couple hours of blue screen), out of the blue, I hear that familiar little Microsoft jingle, look at the TV, and see the XP logo. Squee!!! I don't know how it fixed itself but I am ecstastic that it did. :) Number 109 "reasons why I love this machine" - it can apparently even fix itself. LOL :D
Hope the rest of the flist is having equally happy moments today. :)
