So: baseballbaseballbaseball a low buzz beneath my skin, tap-dancing, slow jiving, what-the-fuck-have-you. Spring and winter and rain and slush beneath my feet, grey skies are gonna clear up, coffee and an apple fritter are not part of this complete breakfast. The sky a striking blue, streaking grey and black, pretty. I love my fingerless gloves ( ( Read more... )

I love your stripey gloves too! And my shirt with happy clouds which I am wearing today.

In other words, you are basically me.

so, personal canon about... oh let's just go ahead and say Josh Beckett?

Happy clouds! And Joshua Patrick Beckett, pitcher:

1. It really isn't gay if Josh Beckett does it, but that doesn't mean he goes around blowing guys against their lockers or anything. Mostly, the closest thing to gay he's ever done is a threesome (and everyone knows it isn't gay if there's a girl there) with Mikey and some baseball groupie after the '03 World Series. (And, fine, there might've been something during his negotiations with Mikey for the number 19, but that was business, fuck you, and also not at all gay.) But, seriously, fuck you for thinking different, but Josh Beckett really loves women, even if he hasn't quite worked out the whole "respecting 'em" thing or the part where they're not just all mothers and whores (mostly ( ... )

As long as we are doing Becketts, Sam Beckett (either, or both).

Hm, well I'm assuming one of the Becketts to which you allude is he of Quantum Leap fame, which forces me to admit that I've seen maybe one total episode of that show ever. I just never got into it. As for Samuel Beckett the Irish writer, well:

1. He once made out with James Joyce. It was all a bit awkward, and they never talked about it.

2. Godot? Yeah, he doesn't know who Godot is either (though he's reasonably sure he had an idea when he wrote it). (He once contemplated saying Godot was a fish. Just to see how people reacted. Or a whale.)

3. He's not afraid of dogs in general, but there was this one dog--a small one, actually, very ridiculous-looking--a neighbor had that he just couldn't help but imagine was plotting his demise every time he saw it.

personal canon... mmm, I'm torn between Toby or Geoffrey Tennant. I think I'll go with Geoffrey.

Hmm, Geoffrey Tennant.

1. Sometimes, he'll lie awake at night, worried that he loves Ellen more than he loves the theatre. Then he'll worry about what it means, that he's the kind of man who questions those things, that he's the kind of guy who doesn't know the correct answer. Then he'll sneak out of bed--careful not to disturb Ellen, who'll bitch about her beauty sleep, which is ridiculous, because she's pretty much the most gorgeous woman he's seen, all luminous and Ellen--and wander around until morning.

2. He's afraid that one day, he'll really snap. He's not exactly sure what that'd entail, but he has visions of blood and tears and tragedy of Shakespearean proportions.

3. He likes to try to stand barefoot on hot pavement. Just to see how long he can last before hopping and running and cursing. It's almost... fun. A game.

2 is totally him, you get it through the show - there's this fear behind his eyes, like he is wondering "is this when I'm going to break down?".

Lovely. I love this show too much for my own good.
