Hokay, so, I've recovered a bit more now.
I went to Melbourne last Saturday, to go to the Australian National Ultimate (Frisbee) Championships. It was a 4-day tournament, from Sunday to Wednesday. There were 8 games of frisbee altogether, and my team won 4 and lost 4. We were seeded (predicted to be) 13th, and came 11th (out of 14). Not bad!
I arrived in Melbourne around noon on Saturday, and straight away caught a bus into the city to do some shopping. Conveniently, a big DFO (Direct Factory Outlet shopping mall) had just been built at the station that the bus went to! So I spent a good couple of hours in there (but only managed to buy a cute Suburban scarf) before heading to the city. Oh yeah, it was rainy and miserable. But I bought a yummy caramel coffee from Starbucks to keep me company, walking the big blocks in the rain (I forget that it can take more than 10 minutes to walk a few blocks in big cities).
Went to Dangerfield, bought two Lee jeans, the same cut (bootcut), the same size, one black and one faded blue... the black infinitely too tight, and the blue just right. Very weird! The shopping girls guaranteed that the black ones would stretch, though. I hope so!
Theeeen we went to Chinatown for tea, and caught a tram from the city to the university that the tournament was being held at (and where we were camping). It took 45 mins... *yawn*. That's a long way to commute, in Tasmania-land.

So, erm, the tournament! The first day produced the most tiredness and soreness the second day. After that I was actually pretty alright, although I couldn't seem to make my legs run fast enough.
It was hard, especially compared to our social league here. To be honest, I'm not used to feeling like I'm the slowest and most useless on the team. I don't think I was, quite, but it pretty much felt that way at times :-\
I caught at least one point, thank goodness. I can't remember if I caught many more, though. I have a lot to learn!
The social part of it (which I was most worried about, actually) was actually rather good. Most of my team (the girls team) were camping at the fields, and there were a couple of the boys too. The camping itself was a bit uncomfortable (hard ground, cold nights, icky facilities) but not a bad option (commuting from the city would've taken about an hour, and camping was free). We had a fun party on the last night, where everyone dressed up and danced the night away.
Hmm, that's probably enough :) I'm glad to be home, in a comfy bed with an electric blanket, and with my laptop and Jase.
I might link to a photo or two soon!
