Sorry about the long entry last time, so I'll keep this one short. I just forgot about one thing.
I was getting my hair cut on monday, and to pass the time I was watching this show on tv about veterans from the battle of Iwo Jima. This old marine was talking about what he and his unit were up to when the flag was raised on mount Suribachi. The story goes something like this: "We were down by where that road is there, when Jimmy started yelling 'look look! The flag! They've raised the flag on top of the mountain!' And he stood up and started cheering...then he got shot through the head...yep."
My mom and I just kind of stopped for a moment. Then we started laughing in that "that's the most horrible grandfather story I've ever heard" laugh. It was one of the few moments when you can be both horrified and tickled at the same time by the same thing.
That's all.
