Is paved with good intentions, but also some good actions.
Today was my last long run before my first half marathon of the year. The forecast last night was for rain, so I was expecting a wet run.
But it was dry at 8:30, so out I went. Got about 3 minutes into my warm up when a running group went by, and one of them asked why don't I join them? So I did. Not the best idea, as I was supposed to be doing a long, easy run and they were moving at about a 5:15 pace. At 2.5 km, they turned left and I went straight.
From that start, the run went well. The tide was in, so Gyro Beach was more water than beach. There is a new water fountain but it was not turned on. Glad I had my own bottle with me.
All in all, it was a good run. My goal was to do 24 sets of 5 minute intervals, and I completed that, accumulating about 17 km along the way. The rain held off until I was finished.
Learned I can run faster than I think and I can do the distance. Not expecting a PR, but I will be able to finish, and it sets me up for some good times this year.
Was looking at the Maui Marathon in September. Nice course but wrong time of year. Still thinking about the Millarville Half in June, though.
