Note: I don't really do write ups like this on a regular basis not to mention I'm a total beginner in analyzing teams because I really don't get to watch every regular season game because im usually either out or still at work so take it easy on me :p.
Standings: (I'm not clear on the tie breakers so I just went with their regular season W-L match up)
1. Los Angeles Lakers: 58-24
2. Dallas Mavericks: 55-27
3. Utah Jazz: 54-28
4. Phoenix Suns: 53-29
5. Denver Nuggets: 53-29
6. Oklahoma Thunder: 51-31
7. San Antonio Spurs: 50-32
8. Portland Trailblazers: 50-32
So thats how I think it's gonna turn out after the regular season ends and playoffs starts.
Match up 1:
1. Los Angeles Lakers: 58-24
8. Portland Trailblazers: 50-32
- It's sorta easy to say that yes (as hard for me to say this) the Lakers will make it to the finals again but with how they are playing right now it's not going to be easy. It's said that Andrew Bynum will most likely be back during the playoffs and Bryant will sit out the last 2 games of the season to heal that finger. Portland on the other hand, to be honest they've surprised me. I didn't think they would actually make the playoffs this year because of early injuries to Greg Oden, Joel Pryzbilla and mid season injury to Brandon Roy. Speaking of Brandon Roy, he suffered a mild (hopefully it is mild) knee injury during yesterdays game against the Lakers. Nevertheless You really can't count out portland yet, the recently acquired Marcus Camby is playing really well for them and they lead the Lakers 2-1 in their regular season match up.
- Lakers win 4-2
*(Portland Upset 4-0 :p hahah)
Match up 2:
4. Phoenix Suns: 53-29
5. Denver Nuggets: 53-29
- To be honest, I was really hoping for a Phoenix / Dallas playoff series (but hey you never know they might see each other in the western conference finals). I mean wouldn't you want to see how Jason Kidd and Steve Nash go at it in a 7 game series? Okay enough about that, Phoenix and Denver.... I really can't say much about them since I hardly watch any of their games. I would say mentally Denver is pretty much out of it since Coach George Karl is having his own fight with cancer. Although with Martin back in the line up from an injury making him miss 18 games its kinda tough to say. I mean you can't expect somebody who came from an injury to play 100% right away. I mean look at what happen to Jameer Nelson during the NBA finals last year. Phoenix on the other hand have Steve Nash whose playing like he's in his early 20's despite being as old as the dinosaurs. Amar'e Stoudamire playing really well with Nash at the moment and not to mention this might be his last season with phoenix so might as well win a ring before you leave right? Although Suns do know how to blow big game leads and Chauncey and Carmelo sure know how to take advantage of that.
- Phoenix 4-2
Match up 3:
2. Dallas Mavericks: 55-27
7. San Antonio Spurs: 50-32
- Dallas, Dallas, Dallas.... I think they're the favorites to win the Western Conference Finals this year. With Jason Kidd and Dirk playing like theres no tomorrow and acquiring Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood during the trade deadline, they a pretty solid team. Not to mention their rookie Rodrique Beaubois playing really well. Did I mention theyl have Shawn Marion, Jason Terry, Erick Dampier, I mean the team is stacked lol. Although San Antonio Spurs can't just lie down and die, this veteran team is still as scary as ever even after a slow start. For sure Parker, Ginobli, Duncan will make it a living nightmare for dallas to advance to the 2nd round.
- Dallas 4-3
Match up 4:
3. Utah Jazz: 54-28
6. Oklahoma Thunder: 51-31
- What can I say, Oklahoma totally surprised everybody after finally clinching a playoff spot after 5 years. Durant totally matured into a true NBA superstar and he's only going to get better and better. See the thing is with Oklahoma is that the whole teams steps up. During the times Durant was in a slump Russel Westbrook picked up the pace and when the others are in a slump Jeff Green stepped up. Although Utah will most likely take this series because apparently the thunder is a young team with no playoff experience (Even though the thunder do lead their regular season match up 3-1) but still this will be a really entertaining series to watch.
- Utah 4-3
*(Oklahoma upset 4-3)
So yeah that's basically it. Let me know what you guys think... Oh and none of that "LAKERS ALL THE WAY" BS or "LAKERS CHAMPS 2010!!!!!!" I think i get enough of those from my friends
