Poor gas mileage ?
Greetings all.
I puchased an '06 Mazda3 S, with the 5-speed "manumatic" transmission about 3 weeks ago. I do mostly city driving and here in Texas the air conditioner stays on all summer.
I didn't expect to get the EPA rating of 26 mpg city. However I'm only getting about 19-21 miles per gallon. I am by no means a lead-foot but rarely get over 50 mph. Like I said, my driving is about 80% city in stop and go traffic.
Should I be alarmed or is this what I can expect? The car was in great shape and had about 19,000 miles on it when I bought it. I might run an experiment and drive it out to the country on a highway and engage the cruise control for a couple of hundred miles just to see what kind of mileage I get.
