Andrew's got an appointment to check just how colourblind he is. It's at 4pm this afternoon and they said it would take an hour and he'd walk out with a written report on the exact degree of colour blindness.
Story behind the appointment...
He went for his Army appointment the other day and passed every test with flying colours (LOL) until he got to the colour blindness test and they told him he is a CP3 which is the worst degree of colour blindness. The interviewer told him that he would still be accepted as he was a good egg but he'd only be able to do clerical work. As he despises even the thought of working behind a desk, he refused to go in unless it was for Carpentry. He was told if he could get a Dr's cert stating that he really wasn't as bad as they had said he was then he'd be able to get in doing his Carpentry. He is a good candidate as they don't have to educate him in his trade as he has already finished all his carpentry courses.
The first years money would be tight ($33,000) but following years would bring on a nice income and job security. Not to mention medical/dental for us all and subsidised rent. Plus, family men get extra allowances to cover expenses for children & sometimes they pay for your electricity too.
Anyway, after the army interview we went down to the Dr's. Dr confirmed that Andrew was colour blind and wasn't very helpful when we asked if we could take it further and have a more in depth assessment.
I had to do the rest of the hard yards myself after a recommendation from Robert on a Opthamologist. I rang about 5 different people just to find out we needed to go to the Uni of NSW for the assessment.
I'll let you know how it goes.
