After all was done and the night is over, I can honestly say that it was one of the best nights of my life. I'm happy to say that the bride agreed. :P
We rented a holiday apartment for the night and started making our way over to Manly at about 1:30ish. I wasn't until we got to the Northern Beaches that I 'remembered' I'd forgotten the stereo, the esky and the bag full of yummy cheeses I'd put in the fridge back at Mel's so they were still eatable for the night.
Luckily, we had Brooke onboard. We stopped at Woolworths to re-stock on cheeses (I didn't feel so bad for this pitstop as we needed booze also)and then swung by retrovision to get a stereo. Mel had a makeshift esky in the boot so we were set.
We got there and people started arriving straight away. The music was pumping and by 5, everyone was more than a little tipsy.
I'd agonised over games, games material and when we'd play them all morning (I blame the stress of this for forgetting the stereo, not the fact that my short term memory is shot to shit anyhow) and when push came to shove, I needn't have panicked. Kel and Jen helped me set up and the games were a blast. Jen and Jo had made a pass the parcel and I'd made a few questionaires and opther games. There were wands and tiaras as prizes and I didn't see one miserable person. Everyone was chattering and laughing, everyone was over enthusiastic with the games and by the time we left the room to go party, everyone was completely wasted!!!
We spent the night dancing at the Steyne in Manly and didn't turn in until 4:30am. Unexpectantly, the 'mums' were up at 7:30 chatting and drinking bad motel coffee. We were all stumped as to why we'd risen so early. One chance to snooze until late and we wasted it by getting up and talking to rosellas on the balcony.
We ended up in the rocks having a German style big breakfast and I've decided I hate german sausage. I don't care that I'm from German ancestory, german sausage sucks!
I didn't get home until late as brooke drove us back to her house to drop her off, then we were driving home and Mel and I ended up at Parklea picking up the flower girl dress.
ANYWAY, IT WAS THE BEST NIGHT!!!
Next, I'll do the wedding but not right now. The kids are tormenting one another.
