I just had an incredible experience.

I was watching MTS3K when my stomach reminded me that I had only eat half a turkey sandwich all day. I decided to go to Taco Bell, as the Retreat was closed, and I just had a craving. And as I was walking along the dark, wooded path to the parking lot, I caught something large and moving in the corner of my eye. I turned, and standing there was a deer, a big buck. I stood stock still for a moment, looking at him, and he looked back at me, and I kept watching him over my shoulder as I continued walking. A bit beyond him were two does. They sort of glanced up at me, but I guess figured if he didn't think I was a danger, they had nothing to worry about. So they kept chomping on vegetation as I walked by, the picture of nonchalance. It was just surreal.

They'd only moved a few feet by the time I got back, but they were closer to the path. This time, I stopped in front of one of the does and just stared at her. She stared back, and we kept eye contact, both of us perfectly still, for a full minute--she was less than ten feet away from me. It was amazing. I half wanted to go up to her and offer a taco, but I didn't. I just stood there, until she broke the contact, ducking her head down to continue eating. So I walked by, watching them over my shoulder for as long as I could see them.

Man. That made me so happy. It was just one of those amazing experiences. I'll never forget it.
