I like Japan

I left RDU 2 days ago...but it feels like it's been forever. I met up with the 3 other people who are going Xiamen at RDU. The flight from RDU to JFK was pretty fast/smooth. After getting to JFK, I was really glad that I traveled in a group. The airport was really, really, really, big...and it was somewhat confusing. Japan Airlines has the best service of any airlines. At the counter, they made an effort to seat all of us together. On the plane, these people just kept on smiling..and bowing...and smiling some more. They were sooooo polite! I've honestly NEVER seen such polite people...it made me rethink my behavior. (I REALLY think that I'm going to be nice now) Especially compared to the one that we had on American Airline. Also, one thing I've noticed is that all the flight attendent on the Asian Airlines are REALLY pretty....again, especially when compared to the one we had on American Airline. However, the flight seemed extremely long. I was really glad when we got to Narita Airport.

We are spending a night at the Narita Airport Hotel. The service here was awesome. They carried our bags from our bus to our room. Again, the girl kept on bowing and smiling at me. I was getting a slightly uncomfortable, I started bowing back. We had a bow fest. It was great. After we washed up, we went into the city of Narita in attempt to find some dinner. We noticed that none of the restaurants opened until 5:00PM. So, we ended up going into a grocery store. The packaging of their food was REALLY delicate and pretty. Being used to the large chunks of meat in America, I was really surprised to see the small amount of thinly sliced meat at their meat section. Also, their fruits look like they are from a picture book. So, we bought some already prepared food from the grocery store, and ate it there. For once, I felt like a foreigner. But it's weird though. These people kept on speaking Japanese to me because of my looks...but I dont understand ANY Japanese. I just kept on bowing...hoping they would understand. We went outside fo the grocery store, there was a guy selling kabobs. I had a hard time understanding what he was telling me. Thank goodness that the people that I was traveling with understood a little bit of Japanese. They were my interpreters. :-) I bet it was an interesting sight, 2 white people translating for an Asian person. We came back to the hotel, and I discovered those REALLY cool beer vending machines. I bought a can of lemon flavored beer to keep as a souvenir.

I leave in 4 hours to go to China. I really like Japan. I wouldnt mind spending a semester here.

Till next time
