Thanks to Sonia, I've been addicted to this Japanese game 《図書室のネヴァジスタ》 (Neversista in/of the Library) since yesterday.
It's kind of a choose-your-own-ending storybook game, where the plot is developed and revealed as your choose different actions in the story. Unfortunately for those who can't understand Japanese, you'll need a pretty strong grasp of Japanese to play this game. (At least JLPT3 I believe.)
The story begins with the death of a student on a stormy night. The brother of the student visits the school to find out what has happened to his brother but is abruptly abducted and secretly held captive by five students of the school. At the same time, a new teacher arrives in the school. As he slowly attempts to get closer to the five students, who alternate between being aloof and warm towards him, he finds himself being haunted by the death of the deceased student, and by his own dark past which is strangely recorded in Neversista, a storybook he finds in the school library.
I have yet to finish the game, but apparently, players can get various endings depending on which of the 5 students the teacher and the brother ends up with. Since there are only guys in this otome game, there's definitely some subtle BL content in the story, though nothing too blatant or nosebleedingly NSFW.
Anyway, what I love most about this game is the OST. The music is really good and the storyline is pretty captivating for me, since I absolutely love 学園怪談 type of stories that involve lots of pretty and handsome boys.
So for those who are interested, do download the
trial version from the official site. It's smaller and easier to install. But do take note of the PC specs. Strangely I'm unable to play it on my new PC and am only able to play the game on my old Japanese laptop. It might be the language thing (you probably have to change your PC language to Japanese to play it?)
And for those who are really interested in playing the entire game, download is available from this
chinese forum.
After downloading, just use PowerISO or any other application that can mount CD/DVD image files to open and install the game.
Now... back to Neversista...
