Test Feasting
So, Kelley and I cooked about half the feast yesterday at my house for playdate and it seemed to go over very well. The theme is beer (well it *is* Tavern Brawl) and most of the recipes are "perioid" rather than actual documented ones. Here's the menu for those interested:
First course:
Pickles (pickled garlic, marinated mushrooms, brandied pears) Wynalie doing ahead
Brown bread (Found a new recipe that is YUM) I will be baking onsite
Beer cheese soup (I will also be making this)
Second course:
Grilled chickens with mustard sauce on the side (Fianna handling -- I don't do raw chicken)
Carrots/parsnips with parsley and butter sauce (I'm doing)
Barley pottage (with spinach, onions and cabbage - I'm doing)
Third course:
Sausage/apple/onion/sauerkraut casserole (Fianna is doing)
Beer bread (I'll bake on site)
Final course:
Vanilla pound cake, chocolate pound cake and either a rum spice cake or a beer cake recipe that Wynalie found but hasn't tried yet. These will be baked in castle molds.
Drinks:
Water, tea and Valeria beer (a pony keg) for those with proper ID.
