Court Updates
Well, yesterday was mostly positive on the court side.
My brother is officially divorced - Yay! He gets 50/50 custody of the kids -- also yay. Would've liked to have gone for full custody, but after all the bruhaha with the assault, didn't see that happening. He also waited her out on all her financial demands, and she got what the state of Ohio says she should get -- at one point she wanted four times that. So, all good there. I texted with him yesterday, and he seemed in pretty good spirits. Now, he just needs to get a job before he either bankrupts my parents and/or gets put in jail for failure to pay child support. But a lot of huge worry is off my shoulders about this. Just have teensy worry about parents finances left ....
My DH did not have to testify at my FIL's sentencing yesterday, for which I'm very glad. He was stressed about it. His brother testified instead -- and he wanted to. FIL got 5 years jail, 5 years probation and no fine (which we were somewhat worried about). He's eligible for parole in Dec. 2013. Now we wait to find out where they are sending him and that's pretty much done for awhile. In the meantime, we are wrangling with the VA over whether MIL gets some of his pension while he's in prison and trying to fix up (mostly painting) her house to get it on the market ASAP.
Whew! Lots of resolution of things that have been hanging over my head like the Sword of Damocles.
