La-la-la-la-la

I had the notorious bloodwork this morning, and in fact I had two tests. That is proof positive that these tests are at the behest of the rheumatologist and not my PCP; she hated me getting one test, let alone two. For those keeping track at home, the tests are anti-dsDNA and anti-native DNA. I have the feeling I'll be able to qualify for a degree in hemotology by the end of this.

Lovely day around here today. Poor Dar worked herself to the bone getting the place ready for our weekend guests, while I slept then scuffed around then slept then some more minor scuffing and so on. I did manage to pitch in here and there, but basically she did every. thing.

I fed the Mommacat during the afternoon and let the kittens out to run around their chicken wire enclosure. An hour or so later, Dar heard the kittens crying so I went outside to check on them: Miranda somehow managed to get outside the enclosure and couldn't figure out how to get back in, so she was pretty upset. And Chloe had somehow managed to find her way inside the great big box that they sleep in at night and couldn't climb out again, so she was unhappy in a big way, too. They're climbing skills are getting pretty advanced; we're going to have to come up with something a little more kitten proof until they're ready to go to new homes. God, they're a lovely, funny bunch of furballs :)

I'm hoping for a more productive couple of days. There's so much I want to do, not the least of which is getting to know Mark's sister and brother-in-law. After a brief conversation, I can say that they're really lovely people and bigtime animal lovers to boot. They're in the right place, then :)

And because this post is boring, I'll try to make amends with another Giant Animal Statue photo. I bring you - Cowzilla!

I love the anatomically correct nipple on the one udder that's showing. The Carsons are a very well known family in the area. Not only do they raise and sell dairy cows, they have a herd of gorgeous Clydesdales; driving by those guys is always a joy for me. The Carsons also run auctions all over the county (at least) and a weekly livestock auction at the site where this pic was taken that attracts hordes of farmers/breeders, all towing these monster livestock trailers. I'd love to sneak in one time to see what's going on, but I think that "sneak" would be highly metaphorical since I really can't pass myself off as a long time livestock breeder. I'll do it one day, I'm sure.
