It's Baltimore.

So, I'm officially moved to Baltimore. I'm still working on unpacking and getting settled, but after like 4 straight nights of bad sleeping, I slept like a rock from the time I went to bed last night till after sunrise. Rather appropriately, I decided to start reading "the power of a city at prayer" the other night. And between that and watching the local news, God has broken my heart for this city and moved me to want to do my part to make the city a better place. And it's been wonderful to feel God's hand on my heart like that, really reminding me that I'm not alone here and that there are bigger plans for me here. It has made the first day and 1/2 alone in my apartment much easier. I'm still not really used to it, and I am trying to deal with the fact that there are cockroaches in my basement and the apartment smells kind of strange right now.
Boomer was really sick the first couple days here, but he's back to his normal behavior and mood and bowel functions (that's really all I am going to say about that) and I'm really thankful I picked an apartment on the park for walking him.
I'm certain I have plenty to keep myself busy for the next 2 or 3 weeks, and hopefully I can make some friends with the couple Hopkins students i've been in touch with, so I can meet some other people in the program and have something to do on the weekends before classes get underway.
My mom discovered the other day that a shuttle bus from JHMI drives right up Patterson Park Ave, just next to my apartment, so I may not have to walk to school afterall!

I should probably go home soon, the dog is probably lonely and anxious without me and I've been out for 2 and 1/2 hours (most of which has been spent at Patterson Perk, which is dog friendly so i can bring boomer here with me to check email another day, like probably tomorrow. :-)
