what would you grab?

Last night, with the storm raging and the sirens blaring and the Weather Channel going all capslock telling people in our area to "SEEK UNDERGROUND SHELTER IMMEDIATELY!" we decided to run to the neighbor's house, who have a basement. When tornadoes have blazed through your yard twice in two years, you tend to get a bit more nervous. Lovely Columbian couple live in the basement apartment, they insisted we come in from the garage and sit with them, very hospitable despite the language barrier and the fact that the husband had to get up at 4am to go to work.

So as we're rushing out the door, I'm grabbing our go-bags (first aid kits, non-perishable foods, shock blankets, copies of vital papers, etc.) Had a very difficult time motivating Gram to go, she stayed remarkable calm throughout. Which is funny given that pre-Alzheimer's, we used to say her motto was "Panic First, Think Later!"

Anyway, she thought I was being ridiculous forcing her to leave her bed and tv. I'm struggling out the door with go-bags and sleeping bags, yelling at her to "just grab one thing and come now!"

So she finally bundled out the door, got over there and got situated and she reached in her pocket for her one thing she couldn't live without. *popCLICKfizzzz*

Yep. Her one thing was a beer. XD
Alchohol-free beer, but beer nonetheless. Hey, we all have our priorities.
