It still amazes me how my mother, the great hater of all things sci-fi, is so completely sunk for Doctor Who. Some of you may recall how previously her worst nightmare was that she was incapacitated and we forced her to watch Scyfy all day, and she couldn't do anything about it. Seriously, she actually woke up sobbing over that dream. Not the part about being paralyzed, the part about being forcibly subjected to science fiction.
She's been pondering "what are we going to do now that there's no new episode until Christmas?" Last weekend we borrowed Amelia from the library, to get an Eccles fix. (Side note- Ecclescakes + American accent = SO VERY WRONG.) Afterwards she said "You know, I think I might actually enjoy rewatching Doctor Who. You know, from the beginning."
I squealed "OK!!!" and ran off to grab my William Hartnell dvds. Conveniently forgetting she's never quite managed to sit through any classic episodes. Yet.
Ian and Barbara wander onscreen in all their awesome, she starts shifting in her seat a bit. "Um, I didn't mean the very beginning, actually."
I dejectedly ejected the disc.
"Did... you didn't mean from the start of this season, did you?"
"No, I was thinking more like start of the new series, with Eccleston?"
Well. Can't really go wrong there, can you? Our Sunday family tv nights are saved! :D
We might skip the Slitheen eps, though, cause I nearly lost her as a viewer early on with those the first time.
