So, I saw finally Alice In Wonderland with my mother yesterday. Even though several of my friends said they were disappointed I still had several friends tell me it was amazing. I was set on seeing it on theaters so I went with my mom when I got home from Syracuse.
The visuals were stunning. The character's makeup and costumes were impeccable. Jonny Depp was casted perfectly as the Mad Hatter; he acted wonderfully mad yet added a soft side to the Hatter that we didn't see in the books or other movies. Helena Bonham Carter was perfectly casted as the Red Queen. She expertly mixed insanity with her dramatics that was completely appropriate for her character. Anne Hathaway was a lovely vision in white as the White Queen and portrayed the softer yet quirky Queen flawlessly.
One of the complaints I heard about the movie was that it was predictable. But I'd like to remind everyone that this IS Alice In Wonderland we're talking about here; everyone and their mother knows this story. And yes I know that it's an offshoot of the original story but one of the key items in the plotline of the movie is the calendar that shows every day of Underland's history to it's occupants. From the point where it's introduced to the end you know that on the Fraptious Day, Alice will kill the Jabberwocky. The plot works towards that fact.
Anyway, either way, it was an amazing movie and I enjoyed it immensely.
