After several of my friends chided me for not going to see Transformers during its opening week, I finally sucked it up and went last night

Despite my love of VW, I'm not real pleased with their product placement efforts recently either. If you happened to see Knocked-Up, they had a Mark Five Jetta as the lead female's vehicle, and during one of her arguments with Seth Rogen's character, they did this ridiculous panned shot where all you could see was the front of the car gliding down the road, with two screaming heads inside. It was really obvious and kind of painful to watch.
Obviously a film about transforming robots that turn into cars is going to have auto makers vying for their cars, but I felt like GM's placement was just too much. It's the difference between having a coke bottle on a family's table during dinner, or having the character say, "Please pass me the deliciously crisp Coca-Cola, mother!", you know what I mean?
I've no doubt that the commercial tie-ins for this are monumental, the fact that Optimus was in a Burger King commercial says something about how they're pushing it. I've made a firm resolution to not buy any more toys from movies after the "Mike is getting rid of his toys"-inspired Lord of the Rings Riot of 2004. Two infants died, Justin (Jomboni) lost an eye, and I think Missy only got out alive because she hid Shadowfax under her boob.
Insecurity at what? My collection of Simpsons action figures and pissy attitude with everyone on BCO? ;)
I was almost positive you hated me though, and if I recall correctly from my time as a moderator on BCO, your IP address matched up to that account "Prototype", which went after me a few times. So I figured you wanted to cut my face or something.
I'm glad I stopped posting, it brought out bad things in me, and in turn, in others.
Glad to hear you're doing well. I'm doing well also, albeit working far too much.
It wasn't that I took issue with what car was represented in Knocked-Up, it was just the blatantness of it that bugged me. As for Transformers, I'm just pissed that they changed any of the original shapes, though that's to be expected for a modern film. I probably sound like the dorkiest dork who ever dorked when getting annoyed about the changes in the cars.
Yeah man that place is bad news (BCO). I have pretty much stopped posting as well. Believe it or not I post on a pop punk message board which actually makes me MORE combative. I am currently in the process of weaning myself from that as well.
F the internet. I hate no one as the kids say 'IRL'. I hate being a jerk.
I'm the same way, it made me really combative & defensive. No one needs that, you know? I pretty much limit my interactions to this and a message board for my R32, and that's it. Most of the time, it's a good place, but lately I've been scaling back my interaction there.

I kid, I kid.
Since when don't you hate me? That's new!
How have you been?

Never hate! Just weirdness on the part of the internet. I'm fine! Better than I have been in a while. Enjoying life. How are you?
I forgot that you were kind of gearhead (sorry?). Since I'm not I guess I didn't really take issue with what make or model was represented.
