it looks that way because that's what the art for persona 4 looks like...? how does it even remotely look like mediocre fanart.

something about yosuke's expression, also souji's body. Hopefully it's an angle thing cuz the last thing I want is for the anime to not look as good as the game's cutscenes.

It looks fine for me. Maybe it's just an angle problem like you said but it's not that bad. We should wait for the actual anime release then we judge :)

but the only thing I couldn't accept was "Yu Narukami"

I just can't! T_T I've named him Souji Seta in the game and even the manga is Souji Seta... it's really kind of hard to accept Yu Narukami as his official name. :'(

I have to admit that I'm not impressed by the artwork, the trailer on http://www.mayonaka-tv.jp/ seems fine though.

And he'll be forever Souji Seta in my heart as well :(
