The Energetic Osaka Entertainment Show

To put a seal on my boredom, tonight, I decided to watch the Japanese Channel, despite the fact that I do NOT speak a word of Japanese. Ok that's a lie... I picked up a handfull from Anime, like Yes and No, and Fahter, and Mother, and Brother and Sky, and Eyes and Wings and my freind in high school tugaht me to say "I am stiupid," But negleted to tell me that's what I was saying. Regardless, it's not enough to folow a conversation, without subtitles.

According to the TV listings the show playing is "The Energetic Osaka Entertainment Show" a Japanese variety show... and variety it WAS!!!

The first thing I saw, was 6 boys each having their drawings on whiteboard revealed... some of them were sorta lame... they were all cartoons, and everyone applauded madly.

Then 12 Boys in track suits jumped the same rope 73 times before messing up, and the audience clapped and counted.

Then There ere cheerleaders. And I know this, because they are the same in any country, with the little skirts and the synchronized shouting while punching first into the air and tossing each other about.

And then ere was a comedy team... I only think it was a comedy team. The audience kept laughing, and the one poor guy appeared to be playing the straight guy to the other. That’s comedy terminology for the serous one in a comedy duo.

Then there was a Boy Band that the screen called the NaB’s. They played rock music...

And then a man who made like, big arsed party blowers, that had like 30 smaller party blowers as part of them... and that was odd... cause they would go of one after the other and look like... firecrackers... or masks or a mustache and then they had a machine with 100 of them and it made a suspension bridge till the people blowing got a headache.

And for the last act a band called "Super Lover" sang a song that was in both English and Japanese in it. Refrain, the enflish part, went: "Everybody move you body, have a party all night long, lets get together, sing da song." I swar it's 'da' even on the captions at the bottom of the screen. I can’t tell if the lead singer is a girl or a boy, but I’m leading toward girl... cause they got their nails painted and sound sorta feminine... but it’s hard to tell with clothes that baggy.

As they pan the audience, it appear to me made up of mostly teenaged schoolgirls in button down shirts...

The Finally EVERYONE I’ve seen so far... sings, except the cheerleaders who are behind them on risers, dancing. The only word that seems prevalent in the song is "Duoya" Which is written in Roman characters as the lyrics go by... and in the logo that they show last on the show. I can only assume that’s the name of the show in Japanese...

I should watch this show more often… it’s fun… to bad there weren’t any commercial breaks... I would have loved to see the commercials.

Never mind… here they are... and... it’s a car commercial... in English...

Oh but this one is a commercial for "Interplace" and it’s all in Japanese... I only know it’s for that cause it says so in Roman Characters on the screen in the website URL.

Now it’s a sports program... and they are showing Sumo Wrestlers... followed immediately by baseball. And Soccer... based on the images the fans appear to be as fanatical as American fans about baseball, and as Fanatical as the British fans about soccer... Actually they appear to be really into EVERYTHIGN they do... even the silly bits of the variety show... It’s the sort of thing you usually only see on shows like The Price is Right... I wish we had that here more...

And I wish I knew what any of them were saying.

And Now I’m going to SHEEP!!!
