short update

Teddy's sitting up very well now.  He's been army crawling for about a month now, but now he's properly crawling (most of the time).  He takes steps forward one leg at a time as long as somebody is holding on to him, and he supports his own weight.  Besides breastmilk we're feeding him mostly Gerber stuff we got from one of Lars's coworkers.  Sometimes we let Teddy have a taste of whatever we're eating too.  He can chew up small things like a mushy Cheerio or a grain of rice.  So far he just has his two bottom teeth, but we think the top ones should come in soon.  He's really enjoying toys now and gets upset if you take one away from him.  He also sometimes sympathy cries with other babies.  Teddy and I are both sick with colds (this is happening a lot---I feel like I've been sick nearly every weekend for the last couple of months).

Lars has been contacting professors at NC State about their research in Human Factors Psychology and Ergonomics (study of how people interact with objects or computer programs).  He's taking the GRE at the end of this month.  We're hoping he'll be able to start work on a PhD in August.  Ideally we'll get his current job to keep paying him to work part time as a consultant about how to make their software better and also pay for his tuition.  If not, he can probably be a teaching assistant, but it only makes about $10,000 a year.  Therefore, I'm hoping to graduate next December (it probably won't be sooner) so I can start making more money so we can afford for Lars to go back to school.  I don't know if any schools would hire me mid-school-year, so I might have to do a post-doc or work in industry for a while.  One of my acquaintances from the biochem department has a job in industry for $80,000 a year but she works 12+ hour days, so I really don't know if I could handle it, particularly with a family.
