Yeah, I got another B. Oh well. Military stuff is *not* my strong suit. I got an A in my Reproductive Health Policy class from last semester. And an A in my final paper for that class. And I got an A for participation in my Climate Change class. I would like to apply the conflict triad for climate change.
Structures: Perverse subsidies (corn, soy, CAFOs, etc.); Sprawl; Economies of scale
Social Construct: Yuppies versus Rednecks; big organic versus big ag; Whole Foods versus McDonald's type framings; love of SUVs; consumerism; cynicism of government; too much ECON 101 thinking (e.g., economies of scale, specialization, maximizing yield); Nature Deficit Disorder; conspicuous consumption
Behaviors: Driving of SUVs; not recycling; suburbia; buying crap you don't need
And if it were transformed:
Structures: an end to perverse subsidies, return to local and regional food systems
Social Constructs:
Ella Baker Center's approach; moving away from Nature Deficit Disorder; saving and stewardship rather than consumerism
Behavior: smart growth; adoption; breastfeeding, natural childbirth, etc.; buying less stuff
Dammit, I wish there were an extra credit assignment for my military class, to apply the triad to a non-military thing. What do you think? What would you add to my triads?
In other news, I'm enjoying a TBM melt from Cosi.
