In between working a lot, going to my groups and trying to fit in the swimming pool, I managed to do some fun stuff this week.
Thursday was my company's monthly social, and it was a big Halloween themed affair. It was cool. I drunk too much. Got a lot of inebriated advice from my director and various co-workers. Did a bit of my brand of flirting - which to the untrained anglo-saxon comes off as being argumentative - with various good looking guys in suits, some of which had indecipherable irish accents.
Friday was hard...
Saturday I saw Patti Smith in the Roundhouse in Camden with a friend. She is having a forty years since the release of Horses anniversary tour. She played the whole of the album in order - it was awesome! - changing some lyrics to make them more up to date with recent events. And then she played an encore of old favourites and a couple of new ones, did a lot of talking and crowd raising. She was really genuine, a bit shambolic, but steady in her beliefs.
Sunday I went with another friend to the new swanky - and quite expensive - Picturehouse Central cinema in Piccadilly Circus. We saw Crimson Peak. I bet all you guys must have seen it by now. It was really good! Scary and suspenseful, with gorgeous photography and a haunting story that really sticks with you. I remember how much I loved Pan's Labyrinth and The Orphanage. And Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain were pretty brilliant!
