Mad Max: Fury Road
Because life can't always be work, I saw Fury Road on Thursday. In preparation, I saw all the previous Mad Max films in the days running up and I was completely in the zone.
Has anyone else seen the film(s)? Want to talk about it?
I will say it was a wild adrenaline filled ride with no breathers! A crazy film that I don't think I've quite recovered from yet! I wouldn't mind scheduling another Mad Max marathon and seeing all four films with company.
All the Mad Max films are very compelling. In the post-apocalyptic world they create, in the characters that inhabit this world, in the crazy car porn.
You might have heard the drama created by some hyper-sensitive sexist men about this being a feminist propaganda film. What it is, is a film with female action heroes just as interesting and nuanced as male action heroes, and where there is proper balance between male and female speaking characters, and where the women have opinions, agendas, histories and are agents of change. But it's not like the creators of the Mad Max films don't have a history of creating interesting and compelling female characters. It was just always on the more usual scale of being a small minority before.
But the real question of the day is Mel or Tom?

(Personally I preferred Mel, but Tom did a good job too.)
(ETA: It turns out I was unclear as to what I meant in my poll. It didn't mean who you think is a better actor and/or person, but who you think embodies the Mad Max character better.)
Obviously Charlize is not in the running, because she blows them both out the water!
