Making scarves

Jun 16, 2014 13:44

I have so many things to do and no desire to do anything but procrastinate that I'm feeling very blocked at the moment. As an easy way out I thought I should get round to listing in my etsy shops one of the new stuff I've been working on.

This scarf is actually quite old, but I kept on forgetting to list it. It's one of a kind and I won't be repeating it. Mainly because I've used an out of stock plain brown cotton scarf from Esprit. But if people like the button design I stamped on it and it sells I might try repeating it with other colour schemes.

It's here in my etsy shop.

I'm busy trying to locate my gran's old sewing machine so I can make scarves out of the fabric I have bought recently.

First I got some nice linen cheesecloth from a lovely small fabric shop in Athens went I last went.

And the other day I got some cotton raffia in various colours from Goldhawk Road in London.

I want to experiment with the fabrics and see how well they print and if they make good scarves. The raffia comes in tons of bright colours. The linen cheesecloth has more muted colours and less variety, but is a nicer fabric.

I'm still thinking of designs to carve to print on them when I get them sewed up.
