Meltdowns and superheroes.
I'm having a bit of melt-down these days. Nothing is going right and I can't muster up the energy to get stuff done. And the less I get done the worse I feel. Plus I'm feeling very lonely in the sense that every time I get in touch with someone for help career-wise they blow me off. How do other people get lucky breaks but no one wants to give me the time of day?
I signed up for an architectural competition with the hope it would get me back into the spirit and give me something new to add to my cv and portfolio. I asked a nice fellow architect from a volunteering program if she wanted to do it with me, but as usual I got blown off. She didn't answer my email, saying she never got it, so I sent her a facebook message which she did see, but never bothered to answer. It's harder to work on a project by yourself, because it's far to easy to let it slide and procrastinate, as I have done. So I have six days until deadline and so so much to do.
As is usual when I have pressing deadlines, I get all sorts of ideas for other stuff.
Despite people saying they like my Doctor Who linocuts, my simple stamped notebooks or stationery sets sell much better. Which is ridiculous, a lot more work and effort goes into a linocut than a stamp. So I guess I better see about making more stamps. Or super simple linocuts that are practically like stamps.
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to finish my Doctor Who linocut series - I eventually plan on making twelve - but I'm not pining much hope on it. I'm really proud of it, but if it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell.
My next idea, was to make a dozen superhero logo stamps. I like dozens. It gives you the option of making calendars if you want. So I'm looking for superheroes with simple, preferably monochromatic logos that I can turn into stamps. Any ideas?
I have a made a first list, but I will definitely be amending it, because some of the logos have too many colours in them to work for me.
